Monforte del Cid opens application period for university transport scholarships

The Monforte del Cid City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 166, dated September 2, 2026, the correction of errors and the opening of the application period for the call for the granting of transport scholarships for university students for the 2025-2026 academic year. The call, identified in the National Grants Database with number 927025, is aimed at students registered as residents in the municipality and seeks to reduce the impact of commuting expenses on family budgets.

The publication is carried out in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text can be consulted in the National Grants Database and on the municipal website www.monfortedelcid.es.

Beneficiary Requirements

Students who simultaneously meet the following requirements may apply for these scholarships:

• That the distance between the university center and Monforte del Cid, the student’s place of residence, is not less than 18 kilometers nor more than 50 kilometers.
• That they have been registered as residents in Monforte del Cid for at least one full calendar year prior to the publication of the summary of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante.
• That they are enrolled in a public university teaching center that provides official undergraduate or master’s degree studies for the same academic year for which these scholarships are called.
• That the applicant is up to date with their tax obligations and with Social Security.
• That they do not use the transport service subsidized by the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society or that, if they do use it, it does not exceed the cost of the subsidizable service.

Purpose and Amount of the Call

The purpose of the call is to regulate the granting of transport scholarships for university students, with the aim of promoting and supporting programs and activities that foster equal access to education for students registered as residents in the municipal district of Monforte del Cid. The planned expenditure amounts to 6,000 euros, which will be charged to the budgetary application 3370.481.00 “University transport subsidy” of the City Council Budget for the 2026 financial year.

The regulatory bases are those of the General Grants Ordinance of the Monforte del Cid City Council, approved by agreement adopted in the Ordinary Plenary Session dated January 14, 2021, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 18, dated January 28, 2021.

Application Period

The application period will be 20 calendar days, starting from the publication of the summary of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante. The announcement appears signed in Monforte del Cid on August 31, 2026, by the Councilor for Youth, Maribel de las Nieves Antón.

The opening of this period represents a new opportunity for families in the municipality with university students who travel to educational centers located at a distance of between 18 and 50 kilometers, a group that will see the cost of transport relieved during the 2025-2026 academic year.
