Monforte announces 25,000 euros in grants for student transport

The Monforte de Lemos City Council announces grants totaling 25,000 euros to cover public transport expenses for university, Vocational Training (FP), and baccalaureate students registered as residents in the municipality during the 2026/2027 academic year. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo, number 234, dated October 13, 2026, with reference R. 2708 and identifier BDNS 933439, and the deadline for submitting applications ends on October 30, 2026.

The extract of the call is disseminated through the National Grants Database (BDNS), under the Ministry of Finance, in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Grants Law. Object and beneficiaries

The grants cover public transport expenses to various universities and educational centers. The following may apply:

• Students of university education adapted to the European Higher Education Area leading to official Bachelor’s degrees.
• Students of university education leading to Licentiate or Diploma degrees.
• Students of intermediate and higher cycles of Vocational Training and baccalaureate.

In all cases, registration as a resident in the Monforte de Lemos City Council is required. In the case of FP and baccalaureate students, it is additionally a requirement to have to travel outside the municipal boundaries because there is no training offer for the chosen cycle or baccalaureate in the municipality, or because a place was not obtained in the local offer for the course.

Amount and application deadline

A credit of 25,000.00 euros is allocated for the financing of these grants. The application period begins the day following the publication of the extract of the bases in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo and ends on October 30, 2026.

Interested persons must submit applications according to the standardized forms, which are provided at:

• The general Registry of the Monforte de Lemos City Council.
• The community social services of the municipality.
• The municipal website www.monfortedelemos.es.

The call comes at a time when the cost of daily commuting continues to be one of the main expenses for families with children studying outside the municipality.
