Mondoñedo renames Rúa da Fonte as Rúa Xosé Vizoso

The Mondoñedo City Council has approved renaming Rúa da Fonte as Rúa Xosé Vizoso, following the agreement adopted by the Plenary in its extraordinary and urgent session on September 7, 2026. The decision, which affects the naming of a public road and associated documentation, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 211, on September 15, 2026, under reference R. 2436.

The announcement, signed on September 9, 2026, by the mayor-president, Manuel Ángel Otero Legide, reports on the file for the modification of the road’s name and opens the citizen participation process.

Public information period

In compliance with article 83.2 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, the Council opens a public information period of twenty days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the official gazette.

During this period, the file will be available for consultation through the following means:

• Physical offices of the Council, at Praza do Concello, 1, 27740 Mondoñedo.
• Municipal electronic office, at https://mondonedo.sedelectronica.gal.

Persons who may have the status of interested parties may appear and formulate whatever allegations, suggestions, or claims they consider appropriate. The announcement will also serve as notification to interested parties in the event that personal notification of the granting of the hearing process cannot be carried out.

Change of name

The file includes the substitution of the current name of the road with the proposal:

• Current name: Rúa da Fonte.
• Proposed name: Rúa Xosé Vizoso.

The change affects both the road signage and the official and administrative documentation referring to its name, therefore neighbors and entities with addresses on the street must take the new nomenclature into account once the process is completed.
