Mondoñedo opens the collection of waste and cemetery taxes for 2026

Por FactBox Admin

The Mondoñedo City Council approved in the Local Government Board meeting of August 17, 2026, the register for the waste collection tax for the 4th bimester and the cemetery maintenance tax for 2026. The announcement of public exhibition and collection is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo, number 192, dated August 24, 2026, with the reference R. 2265.

The approval of the register is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the General Tax Law and the regulating Municipal Ordinances, which establish the procedure for exhibition, claims, and collection of taxes. The document was signed on August 18, 2026, by the mayor, Manuel A. Otero Legide, and serves as a collective notification for taxpayers.

Public Exhibition

The register is exhibited to the public so that interested parties may examine it and file any claims they deem appropriate, within a period of fifteen days starting from the publication of the announcement in the BOP. During this period, any affected person may review the data included in the register and present the corresponding allegations to the council.

Voluntary Payment Period

The tax will be available for collection during the voluntary period at the Municipal Collection office, located in the Town Hall, from Monday to Friday, on business days, from September 1 to October 31, 2026.

  • Public exhibition period: fifteen days from publication in the BOP.
  • Voluntary payment period: from September 1 to October 31, 2026.
  • Place of payment: Municipal Collection office, Town Hall, on business days.

Executive Route

Once the voluntary period has ended, unpaid receipts will be transferred to the Collection Services of the Honorable Provincial Deputation of Lugo for their collection via enforcement proceedings, including surcharges and other collectible concepts (interest, costs, etc.), in accordance with the provisions of article 97 and following of the General Collection Regulation. In this way, the council ensures the collection of outstanding debts once the voluntary deadline has expired.

Relevance

This news directly affects the taxpayers of Mondoñedo, who must pay the two municipal taxes within the voluntary period to avoid surcharges and the referral of the debt to the executive route. The announcement allows interested parties to review the register and file claims before the deadline, in a procedure that is repeated every bimester for the waste tax and annually for cemetery maintenance.
