Mondariz Balneario raises prices for social activities

The Mondariz Balneario City Council has modified the public prices for the provision of socio-community activities for the 2026/2027 season, a decision adopted by the municipal plenary in an ordinary session held on August 27, 2026. The agreement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) on September 1, 2026, number 167, with the official reference 2026065005.
The measure responds to the need to move towards the self-financing of the activities provided by the council, in order to alleviate the burden borne by the local treasury. The municipal government understands that culture and sport are areas that improve quality of life and social cohesion, but also notes a growing demand for sports, cultural, educational, and leisure offerings aimed at all age groups.
New activity rates
The agreement establishes the amounts to be paid by persons who voluntarily enroll in each of the activities organized by the council. The amounts, which must cover at least the cost of the activity, are fixed as follows:
- Nordic Walking: 30.00 €
- Aquagym: 30.00 €
- Pilates: 25.00 €
- Sports Maintenance: 25.00 €
- Memory Workshop: 25.00 €
- Sewing: 25.00 €
- Dancing: 22.00 €
Persons registered in the municipal census will retain a reduction of 5 euros on the established amounts. Furthermore, when social, charitable, cultural, or public interest reasons concur, the entity may set prices below the provided limits, recording the necessary allocations in the budgets to cover the difference.
Management and registration rules
The registration request shall be submitted to the General Registry of the Mondariz Balneario City Council via a standardized application, and places will be granted in strict order of registration. When applications exceed the available places, a waiting list will be created, in which registered residents will have preference in order of registration.
Classes will be taught in different spaces within the municipality: Nordic Walking will take place in the area agreed upon by the teacher, always within Mondariz Balneario; Dancing and Memory Workshop, at the Town Hall (Casa do Concello); and Sports Maintenance, Pilates, and Aquagym, at the Balneario de Mondariz facilities. The amount of the public prices will be settled quarterly, with the decree approving the settlement being published on the notice board.
Validity and appeals
The agreement overrides all previous agreements that are contradictory from its entry into force. Against this resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the same body within one month of its publication in the BOPPO, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Pontevedra within two months. The agreement is signed by Cesar Gil Bernardez, mayor-president of the council.
The price increase directly affects the users of the activities and the neighborhood, which, although it retains the 5 euro discount, will see an increase in the cost of access to an offer that the council itself considers key for social cohesion and the image of a dynamic and living municipality.
