Monasterio de Rodilla and Sasamón call for a substitute justice of the peace

The city councils of Monasterio de Rodilla and Sasamón have published separate public calls for the election of a substitute justice of the peace, a local judicial position that will become vacant in November 2026. Both resolutions, signed on August 24, 2026, are disseminated in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 167, dated September 3, 2026, within the Local Administration section.

The call is processed in accordance with articles 101 and 102 of the Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and with articles 4 and 5.1 of the Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace. In both municipalities, it is the responsibility of the City Council Plenary to elect the person who will be appointed to the position, once the submitted applications have been evaluated.

Requirements for applicants

Interested parties must meet a series of common conditions in both municipalities, including:

• Possessing Spanish nationality.
• Being of legal age.
• Not being subject to causes of incapacity nor to the incompatibilities and prohibitions provided for in the Organic Law of the Judiciary and the Regulation of the Justices of the Peace.

In the case of Sasamón, it is additionally required to reside in the municipality and not be physically or mentally impeded from performing the duties of the office. In Monasterio de Rodilla, express reference is made to the causes of incapacity in article 303 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and the incompatibilities in articles 389 to 397.

Deadline and method of submission

The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of the Province. Applications may be submitted:

• At the entry registry of each city council, during public office hours.
• Through the procedure regulated in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The application form is available at the municipal offices and, in the case of Sasamón, also on its electronic headquarters (https://sasamon.sedelectronica.es). The application must be accompanied by a photocopy of the DNI (National ID) and a sworn statement declaring that the applicant is not subject to any cause of incompatibility or prohibition.

Signatures and official references

The resolutions are signed by the mayors of both municipalities: Antonio José Ibeas Saiz, mayor-president of Monasterio de Rodilla, and Lorenzo Galerón Gutiérrez, mayor of Sasamón. The call for Monasterio de Rodilla is published under reference BOPBUR-2026-03666 (page 7), and that of Sasamón under reference BOPBUR-2026-03668 (page 8).

Filling the vacancy for substitute justice of the peace ensures the continuity of the administration of local justice in both municipalities, an essential service for the residents of these towns in the province of Burgos. Those who meet the requirements and are interested in the local judicial position have a period of fifteen business days to submit their candidacy.
