Mollet announces a vacancy for a Municipal Police officer position via a merit-based competition

The Mollet del Vallès City Council has announced the temporary provision of a position for a Municipal Police Officer with a functional profile as a canine guide, through a specific merit-based competition under a voluntary service commission regime. The call, approved by resolution of the delegated Councilor for Human Resources no. 4094 of August 12, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on August 31, 2026 (file 220565Q, CVE 202610135702).

The process, identified as PLLT-4-2026, responds to an urgent and non-deferrable service need: the creation and implementation of the Canine Unit of the Municipal Police, attached to the Proximity Unit. The objective is to incorporate an operational pair consisting of a canine guide officer and a dog trained and accredited for police work, especially in the detection of odorous substances and in preventive, educational, and coexistence functions.

Position Characteristics and Remuneration

The position to be filled, with code 161, is attached to the Citizen Security, Coexistence, and Civility Service, with the following conditions:

• Classification subgroup C1 and destination supplement 16.
• Specific supplement 1p, amounting to €19,567.10.
• Working day fixed by the current Working Conditions Agreement of the corps, with a 4x1 work system and hourly flexibility (J10).

The service commission will be temporary, with an initial duration of one year, extendable up to the legal maximum of two years if service needs persist. In no case will it entail the definitive provision of the position nor the consolidation of any right to occupy it on a permanent basis.

Applicant Requirements

To take part in the call, applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Be a career civil servant in the category of officer of a local police force in Catalonia, in active service status.
• Hold the diploma of the basic police course from the Public Security Institute of Catalonia or equivalent, and class A2 and B driver’s licenses.
• Accredit Catalan language knowledge at level B2 and a minimum of one year of experience in police canine units.
• Own a dog, trained and accredited for police work, under six years of age, identified, registered, and vaccinated.

Evaluation Process and Submission

The evaluation of candidacies will be the responsibility of an evaluation commission, and the procedure will consist of the following phases:

• Verification of compliance with participation requirements.
• Evaluation of merits, up to a maximum of 10 points (experience, training, Canine Unit project, and accreditations).
• Competency and technical interview, up to a maximum of 2 points.
• Practical verification of the officer-dog pair, mandatory and eliminatory, graded as fit or unfit.

Applications shall be submitted electronically through the City Council’s selective process management platform, within a period of ten non-extendable business days starting from the day after the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC). The participation fee is €17.00.
