Miranda de Ebro opens public consultation on its Citizen Participation Regulation

The Plenary of the Miranda de Ebro City Council initially approved the Citizen Participation Regulation at the session held on 2 July 2026. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos, number 152, of 13 August 2026, and opens a thirty-day period for residents to submit claims and suggestions before the final approval of the regulation.

The notice appears in the Local Administration section of the gazette, on page 34, is dated in Miranda de Ebro on 31 July 2026 and is signed by the acting mayor, Pablo Gómez Ibáñez. The procedure complies with Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of 2 April, regulating the Bases of Local Government, which requires municipal regulations to be subjected to public information and hearing of interested parties before their final approval.

The provisionally approved text is not reproduced in full in the gazette: the notice refers to municipal channels for consultation. The new regulation will organise the channels through which the citizens of Miranda can participate in municipal public affairs.

Thirty days of public information

The period for submitting objections is thirty days and begins to be counted from the day following the date of publication of the notice in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos, that is, from 14 August 2026. During this period, interested parties may submit claims and suggestions regarding the text approved on an initial basis.

The consultation points enabled by the city council are the following:

• The notice board on the municipal website (www.mirandadeebro.es).
• The edicts board of the city hall, located in the arcades of the town hall.

Final approval

If no claims or suggestions are submitted within the aforementioned period, the regulation, provisional until then, shall be deemed finally approved. Otherwise, the objections received must be resolved before the Plenary grants final status to the regulation.

With this procedure, the Miranda de Ebro City Council culminates a process initiated at the Plenary session of 2 July and now hands the final word to the citizens before the closure of the text.

Impact for residents

The final approval of the Citizen Participation Regulation will provide Miranda de Ebro with its own regulatory framework to channel residents’ involvement in public management. The objections period now open is the opportunity for the people of Miranda to influence the final content of a regulation that directly affects their right to participate in the affairs of the municipality.
