Por FactBox Admin

The Cabinet of Ministers announced Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 586 “On the Sale of State Real Estate at Auction” in the official publication Latvijas Vēstnesis on October 1, 2026 (No. 189, OP 2026/189). The order was published in the “Cabinet of Ministers” section of the publication under sequence number 36. It specifies the state real estate properties that will be put up for public auction.
The order is one of several dozen Cabinet of Ministers decisions published in the October 1, 2026 issue, along with laws adopted by the Saeima, ministry regulations, and binding regulations of local governments. The alienation of state property at auction is a permanent item of state budget revenue: similar orders were published on August 20, 2026 (No. 159, Order No. 493) and September 4, 2026 (No. 170, Order No. 523).
What is being sold and why it is important
The title of the order explicitly indicates that the sale will take place via auction, rather than by transferring the object to a specific buyer or municipality. An auction means that the buyer is determined by the highest offered price; therefore, the document has a direct impact on state budget revenues. The order applies to several state real estate properties, and the specific list of objects is included in the order itself.

Several other Cabinet of Ministers orders related to real estate management were published in the same October 1, 2026 issue:
- Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 587 – transfer of state real estate at Ziedu iela 14A, Aizpute, South Kurzeme Municipality, to the ownership of the South Kurzeme Municipality local government.
- Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 589 – transfer of state-owned apartment property at Zebiekstes iela 3–101, Riga, and the functionally related 7680/1219980 theoretical shares, to the ownership of the Riga State City local government.

Previous practice
The sale of state real estate at auction is announced regularly. On September 4, 2026, by Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 523, the state real estate “Radiotehnika-5 No. 221” in Ķekava Parish, Ķekava Municipality, was put up for auction. In the same issue, by Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 522, the state real estate at Lāčplēša iela 3, Riga, was put up for sale.
Where to find information about auctions
Auction notices in Latvijas Vēstnesis are published in a separate official notices section. In the October 1, 2026 issue, this section includes 11 entries, whereas in the previous September and August issues, the number varied from 7 (on August 27) to 55 (on September 4).
The outcome of an auction depends on buyer interest; therefore, Cabinet of Ministers Order No. 586 is significant for both potential buyers and the state budget. For municipalities and market participants, it serves as the first official signal regarding the expected transaction involving state real estate.
