Por FactBox Admin

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Statutes of the State Energy Crisis Center — a new regulatory act published in the official publication Latvijas Vēstnesis on October 29, 2026, in issue No. 209, with the official reference OP 2026/209. The statutes were issued as Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 643 and occupy the 8th position in the list of legal acts adopted by the government within the content of the publication. The publication marks a new stage in the management of state energy security, where a separate operational basis has been established for the crisis center.
The Statutes of the State Energy Crisis Center were published in the “CONSTITUTIONAL INSTITUTIONS” section under the heading Cabinet of Ministers, alongside other documents approved at the October 29 meeting. The publishing body is the Cabinet of Ministers, and the official publication date is OP 2026/209 — October 29, 2026.

What is not yet visible in the regulations
The publication in the October 29 issue contains the name of the regulations and the official number, but not the text itself; therefore, the specific tasks of the center, the scope of authority, the management model, the effective date, or the responsible ministry cannot yet be read from this reference. These elements will become verifiable in the full text of Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 643.
Why this is important
The name of the State Energy Crisis Center appears only once in the available 2026 issues of Latvijas Vēstnesis — specifically in this October 29 publication, which indicates a new institution within the state administration structure. Since the center’s tasks and powers will relate to the security of energy supply, the regulations are essential for both households as energy consumers and industry companies whose operations in a crisis situation may be affected by the center’s decisions.
