Ministry of Health renews regional health service directors

The Ministry of Health, through the Undersecretariat of Healthcare Networks, has published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile (No. 44,532, Monday, August 24, 2026, Section I, General Norms) three decrees affecting the senior management of regional health services. Two of them renew the directors of the health services of Aconcagua and Tarapacá for new three-year periods, while a third accepts the involuntary resignation of the director of the Reloncaví Health Service.
Health service director positions are of exclusive trust of the authority empowered for their appointment, according to article fifty-eight of Law No. 19,882, which regulates the new personnel policy for public officials. The renewal of these appointments is based on the performance evaluations of each director and the signed performance agreements, which establish annual strategic goals and compliance indicators.
Renewal in the Aconcagua Health Service
Decree No. 3, dated March 4, 2025, renews the appointment of Ms. Susan Porras Fernández (RUN 15,760,609-3) as Director of the Aconcagua Health Service, as a permanent appointee, grade 2° EUS and with 70% of the Senior Public Management Allowance, for a period of three years starting from March 3, 2025.
- This is the second renewal regarding the original appointment contained in Supreme Decree No. 16, dated March 8, 2019.
- The performance of the position is subject to the posting of a bond, and the professional assumes the role without waiting for the full processing of the decree.
- The expenditure is charged to Subtitle 21, personnel expenses, of the service’s budget.
Renewal in the Tarapacá Health Service
Decree No. 32, dated December 29, 2025, renews the appointment of Ms. María Paz de Jesús Iturriaga Lisbona (RUN 6,454,817-4) as Director of the Tarapacá Health Service, as a permanent appointee, grade 2° EUS and 70% of the Senior Public Management Allowance, for a period of three years starting from January 2, 2026.
- This corresponds to the first renewal regarding the original appointment contained in Supreme Decree No. 56, of 2022.
- The position is subject to the posting of a bond, and the director assumes the role on the indicated date without waiting for the full processing of the decree.
- The expenditure is charged to Subtitle 21 of the budget of the Tarapacá Health Service.
Resignation in the Reloncaví Health Service
Decree No. 13, dated May 7, 2026, accepts, as of April 1, 2026, the involuntary resignation submitted by Ms. Bárbara Andrea Del Pino Villarreal (identity card No. 13,121,872-9), grade 2° EUS, from the position of Director of the Reloncaví Health Service, which she served in as a permanent appointee.
- The resignation was requested by the authority via a letter dated March 17, 2026, in exercise of the power to remove personnel from positions of exclusive trust as provided for in Article 148 of the Administrative Statute.
- It is noted that the outgoing director is not subject to any administrative summary proceedings.
- The expenses of the decree are charged to the budget of the Reloncaví Health Service.
The three decrees were signed by the President of the Republic and countersigned by the Minister of Health, and are part of the renewal policy for senior public executives of the healthcare network, which seeks to ensure the continuity and quality of regional health management.
