Ministry of Health extends two key health designations

The Ministry of Health extended the temporary appointments of two national directors for ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY (180) business days, ensuring the continuity of key health positions. The measures were adopted by Minister Mario Iván Lugones through Resolutions 1083/2026 and 1090/2026, both dated August 18 and published in the Official Gazette on August 20, 2026.
The extensions are issued in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 2 of Decree No. 958/2024, which enables ministers to make and extend temporary personnel appointments to permanent staff positions and non-scale positions with a rank lower than Undersecretary, which are vacant and budget-funded. In both cases, the definitive filling of the positions has not occurred, and the reasons that motivated the original appointments remain in effect.
Extension in the Secretariat of Health Management
Resolution 1083/2026 (reference RESOL-2026-1083-APN-MS) extends, as of July 1, 2026, the temporary appointment of Licentiate Alejandro David SONIS (D.N.I. No. 31,251,415) as National Director of Health Economics, reporting to the Secretariat of Health Management of the Ministry of Health.

Resolution 1090/2026 (reference RESOL-2026-1090-APN-MS) extends, as of June 27, 2026, the temporary appointment of Licentiate Ernestina ROSENDO (D.N.I. No. 22,349,498) as National Director of the National Directorate of Statistics and the Argentine Drug Observatory, reporting to the Undersecretariat of Prevention, Research, and Statistics on Drug Matters of the Secretariat of Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Nation.

Regulatory Framework and Scope
Both resolutions are based on Decree No. 958/2024, Decree No. 50/2019 (which approved the organizational chart of the centralized National Administration), and Decree No. 1138/2024 (first and second level operational organizational structure). The positions are governed by the SINEP Sectoral Collective Bargaining Agreement, approved by Decree No. 2098/2008.
In both cases, Article 2 of each resolution stipulates that the position must be filled in accordance with the current requirements and selection systems within a period of 180 business days. The expenditure is covered by specific budget items, and the measures are communicated to the Secretariat of State Transformation and Public Function within five days.
Relevance of the measure
The extensions ensure the continuity of two strategic national directorates of the health system: the economic management of health and the drug data observatory. By keeping the incumbents in office while the definitive filling of the positions is processed, the ministry avoids management gaps in areas sensitive to the planning and control of public health policies.
