Metro awards backup electrical improvement in three data centers

Metro de Madrid, S. A. has formalized the contract for the electrical improvement of the backup power supply in the data centers (CPDs) of its network, with an estimated value of 1,631,252.18 euros (VAT not included). The award, divided into three lots, was granted to ANERPRO Energía y Proceso, S. L. U. and COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios, S. A., according to the formalization announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid number 215, dated September 9, 2026.
The announcement, signed on August 31, 2026, by the head of the Contract Execution Service, Elena de la Iglesia Toribios, corresponds to file 6012400146 and falls within the activity of the Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure. The tender was published on April 22, 2024, in the Public Procurement Portal of the Community of Madrid, the Official Journal of the European Union, and the regional gazette itself.
A mixed contract in three lots
The contract, a mixed type of services and supply with the primary provision of services, was processed through an open procedure and ordinary processing, with award criteria based on the best quality-price ratio (70 economic points and 30 qualitative points). The award was resolved on July 22, 2026, and the formalization was completed in August:
- Lot 1 (2 CPDs of the Alto del Arenal Central Post): awarded to ANERPRO Energía y Proceso, S. L. U. for €575,071.92 (excluding VAT).
- Lot 2 (1 CPD of the Feria de Madrid CTI): awarded to COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios, S. A. for €394,693.63 (excluding VAT).
- Lot 3 (2 TICS CPDs of Puerta del Sur): awarded to ANERPRO Energía y Proceso, S. L. U. for €496,566.70 (excluding VAT).
The contracts for lots 1 and 3 were formalized on August 27, 2026, while the contract for lot 2 was signed on August 24, 2026. The base tender budget including VAT amounted to €813,964.99 (lot 1), €486,285.45 (lot 2), and €673,564.70 (lot 3).
Participation and bids
The tender recorded a notable concurrence of companies, all of which were submitted electronically:
- Lot 1: 5 bids received, 3 from SMEs.
- Lot 2: 5 bids received, 3 from SMEs.
- Lot 3: 7 bids received, 5 from SMEs.
ANERPRO Energía y Proceso, S. L. U. (NIF B70370820, domiciled in Bergondo, La Coruña) was the successful bidder for lots 1 and 3, while COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios, S. A. (NIF A46146387, headquartered in Madrid) won lot 2. None of the lots were awarded to a Temporary Joint Venture (UTE).
Relevance for the transport network
The improvement of the backup power supply reinforces the resilience of Metro de Madrid’s critical infrastructure, guaranteeing the operational continuity of control and data processing systems in the event of power outages. The investment, which is not funded by European Union funds, is part of the technological modernization plan of the Madrid subway and affects strategic facilities of the network, resulting in service reliability for more than two million daily passengers.
