Melilla provides a subsidy of 8,919 euros to the Regional House in Toledo

The Autonomous City of Melilla has approved a collaboration agreement with the Regional House of Melilla in Toledo for the amount of 8,919.00 euros to promote and disseminate the culture and customs of Melilla from the capital of Toledo during the year 2026. The agreement, processed by the Ministry of Culture, Cultural Heritage, and the Elderly, is published in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous City of Melilla (BOME) number 6411, dated September 4, 2026, with the official reference BOME-A-2026-1001.

The agreement is framed within the Strategic Grant Plan of the Autonomous City of Melilla for the 2024-2026 period and falls under the competence of the Ministry of Culture, Cultural Heritage, and the Elderly to manage relations with the Regional Houses of Melilla and their Federation. The grant is paid from budget item 04 92408 48907, under the designation “Agreement with the Regional House of Toledo,” and has been entered into the Registry of Agreements of the Autonomous City under number CON2600232.

A cultural bridge between Melilla and Toledo

The agreement was formalized on September 1, 2026, between the Minister of Culture, Cultural Heritage, and the Elderly, Fadela Mohatar Maanan, and the president of the Regional House of Melilla in Toledo, José Luis García Fernández. The text emphasizes that the Regional Houses act as “ambassadors” of local culture, allowing people from Melilla abroad to maintain a link with their city and favoring cultural exchange with other communities.

Among its functions, the promotion of Melilla’s culture, the encouragement of music, art, and gastronomy, the reinforcement of regional identity, and the link with other cultures stand out. The beneficiary entity, with CIF G45893963, will carry out its activity from its headquarters in Toledo as a bridge between Melilla and the Toledo community.

Activities and subsidized expenses

The grant finances a program of activities for the year 2026, with the following justifiable expenses:

• FITUR January 2026 (rental of a 50-seat bus): 550.00 €.
• Visit to the Naval Museum of Madrid (rental of a 55-seat bus): 660.00 €.
• General Assembly of September 2026 (sound system, screens, and furniture): 500.00 €.
• 33rd anniversary celebration (musical performance, commemorative plaque, and estate rental): 1,500.00 €.
• Rental of the premises (includes management fees, 450 €/month for 12 months): 5,400.00 €.
• Telephony and internet (88-90 €/month): 809.00 €.

The total amount of expenses exceeds the granted amount, therefore up to 8,919.00 € will be admitted as a justifiable amount; the non-subsidized part must be covered by the entity as a contribution of own funds, in accordance with Article 30 of the General Grants Law 38/2003.

Obligations and validity

The entity must carry out the activities detailed in its program of activities and state the sponsorship of the Autonomous City of Melilla in all external communications and signage. The grant is compatible with other aid provided that, jointly or individually, they do not exceed the cost of the activity, and justification shall be provided via a justification account three months after the conclusion of the agreement.

The agreement has a duration of one calendar year, from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and is published in the BOME and in the National Grants Database (BDNS), in accordance with articles 18 and 20 of Law 38/2003.

The approval of this grant reinforces the Autonomous City’s commitment to the external projection of its cultural identity, ensuring that the Melillan community residing in Toledo and the public in Toledo can get to know the traditions, heritage, and multicultural character of Melilla firsthand.
