Melilla resolves subsidies for healthy sports programs 2026

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Government of Melilla has definitively resolved the call for institutional subsidies for the development of healthy, non-competitive physical activity programs and activities in the city for the 2026 fiscal year. The decision, contained in Order No. 1429 of 14 August 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous City of Melilla (BOME) number 6406, dated 18 August 2026, article 948.
The resolution is adopted under the regulatory bases approved by the Council of Government on 7 April 2017, published in BOME number 5454 of 23 June 2017, and under Decree No. 91 of 16 June 2017. The procedure was processed in file 3635/2026, through competitive bidding.
Approved: more than 50 federations and clubs receive funding
The resolution has granted subsidies to a total of 52 sports entities in Melilla, including federations and clubs in the city. The most significant amounts correspond to the three major disciplines:
- Basketball Federation: €12,178.26 (the largest individual amount in the entire call)
- Padel Federation: €7,009.35
- Swimming Federation: €6,958.84
- Club La Salle Melilla: €6,013.63
- Club Atlético Melilla: €7,754.66
- Athletics Federation: €3,947.44
The grants are distributed across three activity categories: healthy physical activity programs proper, psychomotor development and introductory sports activity programs, and participation in non-competitive sports activities and popular races.
Two entities excluded for insufficient seniority
Two applications have been rejected for failing to meet the requirement of article 2 of the bases, which requires entities to be legally constituted with a minimum seniority of two years:
- ProjectArte
- Asociación de Inserción Fut Tabel
Both are excluded from the call for failing to prove the period of constitution required by the applicable regulations.
Right of appeal
The resolution indicates that it does not exhaust the administrative route and that interested parties may file an appeal for reconsideration within one month before the Ministry itself or before the President of the Autonomous City of Melilla, based on articles 92.1 of the Regulations of the Government and Administration of Melilla and 121 et seq. of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
The resolution was signed by Sergio Conesa Mínguez, Acting Technical Secretary for Education, Youth and Sport. The maximum period for issuing and notifying the resolution of the appeal shall be three months.

Grants represent key economic support for non-competitive physical activity in Melilla, an autonomous city where insularity makes participation in popular races more expensive and competes prominently in disciplines such as basketball, swimming and paddle tennis at the national level.
