Melilla announces complementary Erasmus scholarships worth 60,000 euros

The Autonomous City of Melilla has published in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous City of Melilla (BOME) number 6408, dated August 25, 2026, the call for supplementary grants to the Erasmus program for the 2025/2026 academic year. The measure, promoted by the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administration and Equality, is articulated through Order No. 3797, dated August 13, 2026, registered under number 2026003797, and its extract appears in article BOME-A-2026-967, with identification in the National Grants Database (BDNS 924941).

The call, processed under file 26092/2026, is framed within the Regulatory Bases for Supplementary Scholarship Grants for the Erasmus Program (Extraordinary BOME number 13, dated March 15, 2023) and complies with the City’s Strategic Grants Plan regarding the Ministry (Extraordinary BOME number 6, dated March 11, 2026). The expenditure is charged to budget application 03/32603/48000 (ERASMUS AND SICUE SCHOLARSHIPS), through credit retention number 12026000034482, dated July 17, 2026.

Purpose and amount of the grants

The grants, awarded on a competitive basis, aim to supplement the Erasmus program scholarships to facilitate the international mobility of university students from Melilla, reducing economic obstacles. They cover costs for accommodation, subsistence, acquisition of textbooks and materials, as well as transport.

• Amount per student: 100.00 euros per month, up to a maximum of 900.00 euros.
• Total budget for the call: 60,000.00 euros.
• It is received per month or fraction of the stay granted and effectively completed, subject to justification of the Erasmus scholarship and the document accrediting the stay at the destination university.

Beneficiary requirements

Citizens of Melilla pursuing undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral university studies at centers of any Spanish university during the 2025/2026 course may apply for the grants. The award criteria are as follows:

• To be registered as a resident (empadronado) in Melilla with at least one continuous year of seniority from the publication of the call.
• To have been enrolled during the 2025-2026 course at a Spanish university.
• To be a definitive beneficiary of an Erasmus scholarship.
• To have remained at the destination university for the time indicated in the granted scholarship.
• Applications are processed in strict order of entry into the City’s registry until the total amount of the grant is exhausted.

Deadline and submission of applications

The submission period is one month, counting from the day following the publication of the call in the BOME, and may be extended by order of the Minister of Presidency, Public Administration and Equality. Applications may be submitted through three channels:

• Through the official website of the City (www.melilla.es), where the application form can be obtained.
• At the Network of Information and Citizen Service Offices, by appointment for in-person procedures.
• Through the Electronic Office of the Autonomous City of Melilla (sede.melilla.es).

Along with the application, documentation must be provided proving identity, the final award of the Erasmus grant, the actual implementation of the mobility program with the destination country and the duration of the stay, as well as declarations of being up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.

The call reinforces the Autonomous City’s commitment to university education and the internationalization of its students, by complementing European grants and reducing the economic burden of mobility for families in Melilla. With a budget of 60,000 euros, the measure seeks to ensure that no student with an Erasmus grant is limited by the cost of the stay abroad during the 2025/2026 academic year.
