Melilla announces 200,000 euros in grants for young people's home furnishings

The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Autonomous City of Melilla has published the call for grants for the replacement of household furnishings aimed at young people between 18 and 40 years old, with a maximum budget of 200,000 euros. The order, signed on August 12, 2026, appears in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous City of Melilla (BOME) number 6407, dated August 21, 2026.
The call is processed under a direct grant regime on a non-competitive basis, meaning that applications meeting the requirements will be handled in strict order of receipt until the available credit is exhausted. Aid of up to 3,000 euros per beneficiary
The program, financed through budget application 14/33440/78001 of the General Budget of the Autonomous City for 2026, covers 50% of the expenditure actually incurred in the replacement of household furnishings, with a maximum limit of 3,000 euros per beneficiary.
- Expenses incurred and paid between September 16, 2025, and the closing date for the submission of applications will be eligible for subsidies.
- The purpose is to facilitate the emancipation process and improve the quality of life of the youth of Melilla through the acquisition of furniture, appliances, and other basic elements to create or consolidate an independent home.
The call is based on the Regulatory Bases approved by the Governing Council in the session of June 11, 2026, via Agreement No. 2026000560, published in the Extraordinary BOME No. 24, dated June 16, 2026, and is processed under file 23465/2026.
Requirements to access the grant
Natural persons who meet the following requirements may apply for the aid:
- Be registered in Melilla with a minimum seniority of one year in the Municipal Register of Inhabitants.
- Be between 18 and 40 years old at the time of submitting the application.
- Be up to date with tax obligations with the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT), Social Security, and the Tax Collection Office of the Autonomous City of Melilla.
- Prove ownership of the home (registry note) or the status of tenant with a valid contract and proof of the last rent payment.
- Not exceed a gross annual income of 30,000 euros corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year.
- Not have been a previous beneficiary of these household furnishing grants.
How and when to submit the application
The application period will be twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the BOME. Applications shall be submitted through the Electronic Office of the Autonomous City of Melilla using a digital certificate, at the Information and Citizen Service Offices, or at the registries provided for in Article 16 of Law 39/2015.
The processing of the procedure corresponds to the General Directorate of Educational Policy, which will resolve within a maximum period of six months from the submission of the application. The resolution will be notified via publication in the BOME, and an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against it before the Presidency of the Autonomous City of Melilla within one month.
The call, signed by Councilor Miguel Ángel Fernández Bonnemaison, represents a direct boost to the emancipation of the youth of Melilla, who will be able to tackle the creation of their first home with financial support of up to 3,000 euros. With a budget of 200,000 euros and processed in order of receipt, the aid is expected to be exhausted quickly; therefore, interested parties should submit their application as soon as possible.
