Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Junta de Castilla y León has resolved the call for the 2026 sports excellence awards with a total distribution of 449,999.98 euros among athletes and coaches of the Community. The decision is formalized in Order CYT/1070/2026, of October 14, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCyL) No. 203, of October 20, 2026 (reference BOCYL-D-20102026-203-7), within section I.C on subsidies.
The awards were created and regulated by Order CYT/667/2016, of July 15, with subsequent modifications in 2017 and 2022. The call for this fiscal year was approved by Order CYT/288/2026, of March 13 (BOCyL No. 64, of April 6, 2026), which set an allocation of 450,000.00 euros charged to budget application 10.04.336A01.4802C.0 of the General Budgets of the Community. The expenditure is supported by Decree 23/2025, of December 30, which regulates the extension of the 2024 budgets to the 2026 fiscal year.
The Jury provided for in Article 7 of Order CYT/667/2016 and in the eighth section of the call examined all the proposals submitted. Its ruling is contained in the minutes of the session of June 10, 2026, and in the addendum of September 24, 2026, and the resolution corresponds to the regional minister, José Alberto Díaz Pico, who signed in Valladolid on October 14, 2026.

Awarded athletes and coaches
The beneficiaries appear in Annex I (athletes) and Annex II (coaches), ordered by the proposing federation. The highest ratings, with 17 points, correspond to Eva Santidrián Ruiz (athletics), Marta Fernández Infante (adapted sports), Andrea Corral Lorenzana and Andrea Fernández Blanco (gymnastics) and Juan Pedro Ramos Martín (rugby), all of them with 4,050.37 euros.
Among the highest-rated coaches are Juan Herrero Valentín (athletics) and Raúl Marcos Carrasco Gómez (adapted sports), with 810.07 euros each. The list of awardees extends across federations such as athletics, rugby, skating, swimming, Olympic shooting, lifesaving and lifeguarding, kickboxing, karate, handball, equestrian, canoeing, pelota, winter sports and mountain sports, climbing, and hiking.
Denials and appeals process
Annex III lists the athletes and coaches who did not receive an award, along with the coded reason for the denial:
- A: age under 16 years in the year 2025.
- B: failure to submit the required documents in accordance with article 68 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.
- C: lack of a license from the corresponding sports federation.
- D: failure to prove the required sporting results.
- E: receiving an award for another more favorable and better-rated result.
- F: better rating of other candidates.
The order concludes the administrative process. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month before the head of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León. Both deadlines are counted from the day following the publication in the bulletin.
The distribution leaves the planned allocation practically exhausted: of the 450,000 euros called for, 449,999.98 are granted, with a difference of two cents. For federated sports in Castilla y León, the resolution represents the annual confirmation of direct aid that recognizes sporting results and reaches both athletes and their coaches, a common figure in lower categories and adapted sports.
