The Regional Ministry of Mobility, Environment and Emergency Management of the Principality has resolved the call for grants to local entities for the acquisition of waste management equipment for 2026, distributing 1,500,000 euros among 34 Asturian city councils. The resolution, signed by the regional minister Alejandro Jesús Calvo Rodríguez on October 8, is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 202, of October 19, 2026, with the official reference 2026-08415.

The call was approved by Resolution of May 27, 2026, and its summary appeared in BOPA no. 107, of June 5, 2026. The regulatory bases stem from the Resolution of August 26, 2025 (BOPA no. 175, of September 11, 2025) and were modified by the Order of March 30, 2026 (BOPA no. 68, of April 10, 2026). The case file is AYUD/2026/34091 and the expenditure is charged to the budget application 1806.443D.763.203 “Grants for waste management equipment” of the General Budgets of the Principality for 2026, with code PEP 2025/000189. The instructing body is the Directorate General for the Environment.

54 applications from 44 local entities

The call received 54 applications submitted by 44 local entities: 51 arrived within the deadline and 3 outside of it. Only 45 were submitted using the required standardized electronic form, and two of these corresponded to the same entity, resulting in the cancellation of the previous one.

The Environmental Management, Planning and Promotion Service issued a report on August 10, 2026, in which it proposed to reject ten applications. 24 requests for correction were made, of which four were not addressed and one was not addressed in a compliant manner.

The result of the distribution is as follows:

  • 34 beneficiary city councils, listed in Annex II.
  • 10 inadmissible applications (Annex III): six for not adhering to the standardized form, three for that reason and for being untimely, and one due to duplication.
  • 10 rejected applications (Annex IV): five due to exhaustion of credit, one for failing to provide the responsible declaration, and four due to withdrawal.
  • 5 applicants on the reserve list (Annex V).

Semi-underground containers, container covers and shelters

The funds will finance the acquisition and installation of semi-underground, underground, and surface containers, container covers, shelters, container fasteners, and concrete slabs for municipal waste collection activities.

The maximum financing percentage is 90% for the least populated councils and 80% for the larger ones, with a ceiling of 75,000 euros per beneficiary. The resolution recognizes the obligations and proposes the advance payment of the total amount of the grants, exempting the entities from proving compliance with tax obligations.
