Medina de las Torres opens the concession for its elderly residence
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Medina de las Torres has opened a one-month public information period regarding the economic-financial feasibility study for the service concession contract of its nursing home. The agreement is formalized through Mayoral Resolution No. 245/2026, which initially approves the approval file for said study. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 192, corresponding to Wednesday, October 7, 2026, under reference Announcement 3891/2026.
The legal framework of the procedure
The opening of the consultation period is carried out in compliance with Article 247.3 of Law 9/2017, of November 8, on Public Sector Contracts, the regulation that governs the preparation and approval of feasibility studies in service concessions. The body promoting the file is the Mayor’s Office of the City Council of Medina de las Torres, in the province of Badajoz.
The economic-financial feasibility study is the technical document that analyzes the sustainability and economic balance of the future concession before the contract goes to tender. Its initial approval and the public information process constitute the mandatory preliminary step for the council to be able to call for the award procedure.
One month to submit allegations
During the one-month period, counted in accordance with the provisions of the announcement, the file will be available for consultation on the municipal electronic office, accessible at the address https://sede.medinadelastorres.es.
Persons who may consider themselves interested parties may appear and formulate as many allegations, suggestions, or claims as they deem appropriate. The announcement is signed by the mayor, Isaac Rodríguez Domínguez, as of the date of the digital signature.

Other municipalities review their nursing homes
The initiative of Medina de las Torres joins a series of similar procedures published in the same provincial gazette in recent weeks. The Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz of October 7 also includes the initial approval of the Internal Regulations for the nursing home of Talavera la Real (Announcement 3919/2026), agreed upon by the Plenary on September 30, 2026.
On previous dates, modifications to the internal regulations of the residence and day center of Lobón (Announcement 3843/2026), the “Alguijuela” residence and day center of Torremayor (Announcement 3561/2026), and the San Miguel residence and day center of Santa Amalia (Announcement 3760/2026) have also been published. Impact for users and companies
The procedure directly affects current and future users of the municipal residence, as well as companies in the social services sector interested in participating in the eventual tender. The approval of the feasibility study is the condition that allows the city council to define the operating model, the economic conditions, and the obligations of the future concessionaire.
The opening of the allegations period offers residents, entities, and sector operators the opportunity to influence the design of the contract before its call for bids. Once this phase is completed, the City Council of Medina de las Torres will be in a position to promote the public tender for the service, a decision with lasting effects on the care of the elderly in the municipality.
