Media Maratón de Córdoba: aplazada al 13 de diciembre por las elecciones

The Municipal Sports Institute of Córdoba (IMDECO) has moved the 40th edition of the Córdoba Half Marathon from November 29 to December 13, 2026, as the initially planned date coincided with the general elections. The decision is formalized in decree 2026/17936, dated October 15, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba on Thursday, October 22, 2026 (reference BOP-A-2026-3524). The same decree extends the deadline for submitting private sponsorship applications until 11:59 PM on November 3.

The decree, signed by the president of IMDECO, Mª Isabel Albás Vives, responds to the proposal report from the organization’s Sports Management and Maintenance Service Department, identified with CSV uVOFmZa7pf3s96nAGwVJ7qfrBzFuRm and processed under file 0021_GE01_2026_06759. The text justifies the change “due to coinciding with the general elections on that day” and specifies that the new date of celebration, December 13, 2026, has been coordinated with all services of the Córdoba City Council.

The electoral date of November 29, 2026, is accredited in the provincial gazette itself: the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office of Córdoba of the National Statistics Institute published on October 12 (no. 197) the list of sections, polling stations, and venues for the general elections on that day, and the Posadas Zonal Electoral Board disseminated on October 21 (no. 204) the venues reserved for campaign events.

New date: December 13, 2026

The 40th edition of the Córdoba Half Marathon thus moves from November 29 to December 13, 2026, two weeks after the election day. The decree does not modify the rest of the content of the event’s rules, but rather limits the agreement to the extension of the sponsorship deadline and the calendar adaptations that must be expressly approved.

The change directly affects the planning of the event in a year where IMDECO faces its fortieth call, and comes barely a month and a half before the initially announced date.

Private sponsorships: deadline until November 3

The governing body agrees “ex officio” to extend the deadline for submitting private sponsorship applications for the 40th edition. The milestones set in the resolution are as follows:

  • New application deadline: until 11:59 PM on November 3, 2026, inclusive.
  • Reference time: the official time of the Córdoba City Council electronic headquarters.
  • Resolution date: October 15, 2026, adopted before the expiration of the deadline planned for that same day.
  • Publication: October 22, 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba no. 205, page 15305.

Applications already submitted and dissemination of the agreement

The decree maintains the validity of sponsorship applications already registered and the application of the remaining conditions of the rules, without prejudice to any calendar adjustments that are expressly approved. Additionally, it orders:

  • The full publication of the resolution on the Electronic Notice Board of the Córdoba City Council.
  • Its dissemination on the websites of IMDECO and the Half Marathon.
  • Its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba.
  • Direct communication to those who have submitted an application, with a record left in the file.

The postponement forces runners, clubs, and sponsors to redo their schedules and budgets less than two months before the event, and leaves the race calendar subject to the electoral cycle. For private sponsors, the window extends until November 3, meaning that interested companies can still formalize their support for the fortieth edition before the organization closes the list of collaborators.
