Medi Ambient grants new biodiversity and landscape subsidies for 20,000 euros
Por FactBox Admin

The Government has granted nine subsidies for actions in favor of the biodiversity and landscape of Andorra to be developed during the year 2026, for a combined amount of 20,000 euros. The agreement was adopted on October 14, 2026, and is made public in the Grants, scholarships and subsidies section of the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA) no. 119, dated October 21, 2026. The edict is signed by the Head of Government, Xavier Espot Zamora.
The resolving body is the Department of Environment and Sustainability of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, and the form of award was the public call, published in BOPA no. 47, dated May 13, 2026. The subsidized period is the year 2026 and the payment is charged to the budget item 70-700-701-PROJ0171-D/47290/054004, with the management center 001584.
The applied legal framework is the Regulation of the procedure for the granting and control of subsidies and public transfers, dated July 12, 2000. The call is framed within the natural environment conservation policy deployed by Law 7/2019, of February 7, on the conservation of the natural environment, biodiversity and landscape.
Seven beneficiaries for nine projects
The nine grants are distributed among seven beneficiaries, with a clear concentration in two entities and one researcher who signs three projects:
- Ecosistemes SA: study of natural monuments and peri-urban landscape of the valleys of Sant Julià and Encamp, €7,371.71 (the highest amount).
- Ambiotec SLU: prospecting and monitoring of wildlife using camera traps in the future National Natural Park of the Valleys of Canillo and Ordino, €5,016.85.
- Natàlia Rovira Molné: “Andorra, a country within the forest”, €2,875.38.
- Luís Casahuga Torregrossa: “Project Tempora”, €1,765.59.
- Projecte VIDA: “Roots of life: community space for biodiversity and emotional well-being”, €760.26.
- Albert Ruzafa Tomàs: study on Heracleum in the obac forest, €724.60; allochthonous flora of Andorra with educational field trips, €592.33; and census of Maianthemum bifolium in a new location, €241.53.
- Jordi Tena Pera: study of presence and dissemination of fauna via Instagram, €651.75.
From botanical census to dissemination
The range of projects combines applied research and dissemination. On one hand, there are field works with very specific objectives, such as the census of Maianthemum bifolium in a new location and the study on Heracleum in the obac forest, both signed by Albert Ruzafa Tomàs, who is the beneficiary with the most approved proposals.
On the other hand, there are actions with a broader territorial and communication scope: the study of the peri-urban landscape of Sant Julià de Lòria and Encamp, the faunal survey using camera traps in the area of the future natural park of Canillo and Ordino, and awareness proposals such as field trips on alien flora, the dissemination of fauna via social networks, and the community space for biodiversity and emotional well-being of the VIDA Project.
The granted amounts are heterogeneous: ranging from €241.53 for the botanical census to €7,371.71 for the study of natural monuments, and all include IGI.
One month to appeal
An administrative appeal may be filed against the resolution before the Government within a period of one month from the date of notification of the act, according to article 129 of Law 14/2023, of July 3, consolidated text of the Administration Code. The filing of the appeal does not suspend the execution of the contested act, in accordance with articles 52 and 135 of the same Code.
Publication in the BOPA is what makes the grant effective for general knowledge and opens the path for claims by interested parties.
Impact on the territory
The line of grants for biodiversity and landscape is one of the few avenues of direct funding for field studies and environmental dissemination projects in Andorra, and this year it benefits specialized companies as well as individual researchers and small entities. For environmental entities, researchers, and land managers, the published distribution determines who will work on each action during 2026 and with what budget, providing a useful map to coordinate censuses, faunal monitoring, and awareness actions throughout the year.
