Marta Clari Padrós, new Secretary General of Education and Vocational Training

The Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya has appointed Marta Clari Padrós as the new secretary general of the Department of Education and Vocational Training. The appointment is formalized through Decree 154/2026, of September 1, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) number 9744, of September 3, 2026, with the official reference CVE-DOGC-A-26244048-2026.

A high-level appointment in the key department of education

The decree is issued in accordance with article 26.h of Law 13/2008, of November 5, on the presidency of the Generalitat and the Government, at the proposal of the Minister of Education and Vocational Training and in agreement with the Government. The sole article of the decree appoints Ms. Marta Clari Padrós as secretary general of the department, with the rights and duties inherent to the position.

The document was signed in Barcelona on September 1, 2026, by the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa i Roca, and by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Esther Niubó Cidoncha. The general secretariat is a first-level management body, responsible for the internal coordination and administrative management of the department, which articulates the educational policy of the entire Catalan system.

Functions and scope of the position

The general secretariat of the Department of Education and Vocational Training performs transversal management and coordination functions, among which the following stand out:

• The direction of general services and the economic and budgetary management of the department.
• The coordination of the general directorates and the bodies that depend on them.
• The ordinary representation of the department and the processing of matters pertaining to it.
• Support for the Minister in the definition and execution of educational policies.

The position, appointed directly by the Government, is a central piece for the governance of the Catalan educational system, directly affecting the educational community, teachers, students, and families.

A handover with impact on educational policy

The appointment comes at a time of deployment of new educational and vocational training policies in Catalonia, and places Marta Clari Padrós at the forefront of the ordinary management of the department. Her work will be key to ensuring administrative continuity and the implementation of the Government’s strategic lines regarding education and vocational training.

With the publication in the DOGC number 9744, the appointment acquires full legal effectiveness and becomes general knowledge for all citizens and for the administrations and entities of the educational sector.
