María Hernández García, new manager of the University of A Coruña

The University of A Coruña (UDC) has a new manager. The rector, Ricardo José Cao Abad, signed a resolution on August 25, 2026, appointing María Hernández García as manager of the institution, a position she will assume with economic and administrative effects from September 1, 2026. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG no. 164, August 31, 2026, p. 46947), in the section for appointments of authorities and personnel.

The appointment responds to the procedure established in current university legislation. The resolution cites as its basis Article 50 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the university system, as well as Article 137 of the UDC statutes, approved by Decree 94/2025, of October 6 (DOG no. 207, October 27). The designation was carried out in agreement with the university’s Social Council.

A key position in university management

The management office is one of the central figures of university administration, responsible for the economic, budgetary, and personnel management of the institution. The person occupying the role acts as an executive management body under the authority of the rector, coordinating administrative services and ensuring the daily operation of the university.

In the case of the UDC, the new manager assumes these functions at a time of consolidation of the new statutory framework, approved in 2025, which reorganizes the governance and management structure of the A Coruña institution.
