Magallanes licita consultoría para ampliar obras anexas al muelle Barranco Amarillo

The Port Works Directorate of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region has issued a digital public tender for the consultancy for the expansion of ancillary works at the Barranco Amarillo Pier, in Punta Arenas, with the deadline for the receipt of technical and economic bids on November 19, 2026, at 2:59 p.m. The notice was published by the Ministry of Public Works in Section IV of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile No. 44,581, dated Friday, October 23, 2026, under CVE 2888784.

The call is framed within the section for tenders, competitions, summons, and loss of documents of the official bulletin, headed by the Ministry of the Interior, and is signed by the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Public Works of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region. The entire process will be carried out electronically through the platform www.mercadopublico.cl, where the terms and background information are available as of the date of publication; the notice specifies that there is no sale of background information nor delivery of physical terms.

Process Identification and Budget

The file is identified with the following official codes:

The financing is sectoral and the official budget amounts to $356,649,593, including VAT. The contract will be governed by the system of unit prices and lump sum, with an execution period of 515 days.

Process Calendar

The dates set in the notice are as follows:

  • Deadline for inquiries: October 29, 2026.
  • Deadline for responses: November 6, 2026.
  • Deadline for receipt of technical and economic bids: November 19, 2026, at 2:59 p.m.
  • Opening of technical bids: November 19, 2026.
  • Opening of economic bids: November 26, 2026.

Requirements for Participation

The notice requires participants to certify requirement 4. Civil Engineering, with registration in 4.1 Structures and 4.4 Port Works, and specialties and categories First. This is, therefore, a limited call for civil engineering consultancies with registered experience in structures and port works, which restricts the universe of eligible bidders.

Technical Scope: Relocation of the Travel Lift

The consultancy comprises the design of the ancillary works that allow for the optimization of the travel lift operation, relocating it toward the northern sector of the Barranco Amarillo artisanal fishing cove, in Punta Arenas. The work includes the review and analysis of the topo-bathymetric survey and the basic studies provided by the DOP, the execution of geotechnical engineering studies, and the detailed engineering design.

The scope thus combines the validation of already available technical information with new geotechnical research and the development of detailed engineering, inputs that condition the future material execution of the works annexed to the pier.

The tender opens a limited window—less than a month from publication to closing—for civil engineering consultancies from the country and the southern extremity to prepare their technical and economic bids on the public procurement portal. For the logistics and fishing sector of Magallanes, the process is the preliminary step to an intervention that seeks to improve the operation of the travel lift in the Barranco Amarillo cove, support infrastructure for artisanal fishing activity and maritime connectivity in the southern zone.
