Málaga and Córdoba appoint new professors and one associate professor

The Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía publishes this Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the appointments of new University Professors at the University of Málaga and a senior lecturer at the University of Córdoba. Both appointments were decided by the respective rectorates through resolutions dated October 22, 2026. The official publication appears in section 2.1, “Appointments, situations and incidents,” under the UNIVERSITIES heading of BOJA no. 208, year XLVIII.

Málaga: new University Professors

The Resolution of October 22, 2026, of the University of Málaga, “by which University Professors are appointed,” is incorporated into BOJA no. 208 as text no. 14071. This is a one-page announcement confirming the completion of the internal promotion process for civil servant faculty to the highest teaching category.

The appointment comes just a few days after two other resolutions from the same rectorate, both also regarding University Professors:

• Resolution of October 21, 2026, University of Málaga, text no. 13992, published in BOJA no. 207 on October 26.
• Resolution of October 14, 2026, University of Málaga, text no. 13632, published in BOJA no. 202 on October 19.

The sequence confirms that the University of Málaga is closing several promotions to professor this autumn, which represents the consolidation of doctoral faculty with accreditation and a recognized research trajectory in their departments.

Córdoba: Angélica Lozano Lunar, new senior lecturer

The second resolution is also dated October 22, 2026, and comes from the University of Córdoba: “by which Ms. Angélica Lozano Lunar is appointed as University Senior Lecturer,” with text no. 14072 and a length of one page.

The appointment of Angélica Lozano Lunar falls within the category of University senior lecturer, the step immediately preceding that of professor in the university teaching career. The resolution has effects on the staff of the department to which the professor is assigned and on the teaching structure of the Córdoba campus.

A round of appointments spread across several campuses

The two resolutions of October 22 are not an isolated case. In recent weeks, the BOJA has been publishing appointment resolutions for civil servant faculty from various Andalusian universities, almost always under the UNIVERSITIES heading of section 2.1:

Impact on staff and departmental life

The effect of these appointments is twofold. On one hand, it consolidates the teaching career of those who attain a chair or tenure, with the corresponding modification of their working conditions and their classification within the teaching bodies. On the other, it alters the composition of the involved departments, which gain civil servant faculty with full capacity in teaching, research, and thesis supervision.

For students and research staff at the Málaga and Córdoba campuses, the publication of these appointments opens the door to the subsequent filling of vacancies left by the promoted teachers and the reassignment of teaching in the affected degrees, a movement that usually takes place in the following months.
