Lugo publishes the provisional list of admitted candidates for 17 firefighter positions

The Lugo City Council publishes the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates for permanent access to 17 firefighter/driver positions within its civil service staff, in the open access category. The resolution, signed by the mayor-president María Elena Candia López, appears in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 204, dated September 7, 2026 (reference R. 2369).

The selection process covers positions included in three public employment offers: 4 from OEP 2023, 2 from OEP 2024, and 11 from OEP 2025. It was convened by decree no. 4825/2026, dated June 3, and the specific bases were approved by the Local Government Board in the extraordinary and urgent session of May 29, 2026 (agreement 2/213). The call was published in the BOP of Lugo no. 138, dated June 18, with an extract in the Official Gazette of Galicia no. 122, dated July 2, and an announcement in the Official State Gazette no. 168, dated July 11. The deadline for submitting applications ended on August 7, 2026.

A list with 128 admitted and 67 excluded

The provisional list includes 128 admitted persons and 67 excluded, totaling 195 applicants for the 17 convened positions. Among those admitted are, among others, Rubén Aguión Fernández, Ismael Alonso González, Susana María Ballesteros Vega, Iria María Neira Fraga, and María Antía Rodríguez Aguin.

Excluded persons appear with the reason for exclusion indicated, according to the following key:

• (1) Failure to provide DNI, passport, or a substituting document from other member states of the European Union.
• (2) Failure to provide proof of payment of exam fees or providing proof of a lower fee.
• (3) Failure to provide a school graduate degree, 1st degree vocational training (FP), ESO graduate, or equivalent.
• (4) Failure to provide a valid class C driver’s license.
• (5) Failure to provide a navigation license or higher.
• (6) Failure to provide a valid official medical certificate (maximum three months prior to the application deadline date) certifying the physical and health conditions for the exercises.
• (7) Submission of the application after the deadline.

Ten-day amendment period

The decree specifies a period of ten business days for amendments, counted from the day following the publication in the BOP of Lugo, in accordance with article 68 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure. Those who do not correct the defects within the period justifying their right of admission will be definitively excluded from the process.

Once the correction period has ended, the competent body will issue a resolution with the final list of admitted and excluded candidates. If no corrections are submitted, the provisional list will automatically become final. Being listed as admitted does not imply the recognition of fulfillment of the requirements, which will be verified with the documentation presented.

Relevance for candidates

This publication is a key step in the process that will allow for the filling of 17 firefighter/driver positions, reinforcing the fire extinction and civil protection service of the municipality. Excluded applicants now have a ten-day window to correct defects and remain in the process, therefore the review of the list and the submission of amendments within the deadline is decisive for their continuity.
