Lugo incorpora tres novos policías locais como funcionarios de carreira

As of this week, the Lugo City Council has three new career officers in the Local Police Force. The Local Government Board of the Lugo City Council approved the appointment in the ordinary session of October 26, 2026, according to agreement 2/445, and the announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo (BOP) no. 252, dated November 3, 2026, with reference R. 2985. The text is signed by the mayor-president, María Elena Candia López, in Lugo on October 28, 2026.

The framework of the agreement is the provision of positions in the municipal civil service personnel framework corresponding to the police category. The Government Board is the body that exercises the power of appointment of personnel in the service of the council, and the announcement is published in the provincial gazette so that the act achieves publicity and the period for taking office begins to count.

Three names and one single category

The agreement appoints as career civil servants, in the police category of the Local Police Force:

  • Samuel Núñez López (DNI *8274).
  • Alejandro Prados Arias (DNI *8617).
  • Marcos Varela Vázquez (DNI *7885).

All three enter with an identical classification: special administration scale, special services sub-scale, local police and assistants class, basic scale and subgroup C1. The agreement stipulates that the appointment be notified individually to each of the interested persons.

One month to take office

The dispositive part sets a strict time condition: the taking of office must be formalized within one month from the publication of the appointment in the official gazette, meaning a deadline located in early December 2026.

The agreement warns that if any of the applicants does not take office within the indicated period and no force majeure occurs, they will lose all rights derived from participation in the selection process and the granted appointment. The publication of the announcement in BOP no. 252 is, therefore, the event that activates that count.

Two months to appeal

Agreement 2/445 ends the administrative route, so that only the challenge routes provided for in the legislation are applicable against it:

  • Optional appeal for reversal before the same body that issued the act, within a period of one month from the day following publication, according to articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015.
  • Contentious-administrative appeal within a period of two months from the day following publication, before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Lugo, according to articles 8, 25, and 46 of Law 29/1998.

Other open processes in the force

The appointment occurs within a context of personnel movement in the Lugo Local Police. The city council has an ongoing provision process via mobility for three positions belonging to the civil servant staff (OPE 2026), with specific bases approved by agreement 1/287 of the Local Government Board on July 13, 2026, and another for four positions (OEP 2025), whose definitive list of admitted and excluded candidates was approved by Mayoral Decree 8043/2026, dated September 30, 2026, published in BOP no. 238. The sectoral public employment offer for the Local Police for 2026 was approved, for its part, on May 29, 2026.

The reinforcement of the staff has a direct effect on the daily life of the municipality: three more agents in the basic scale translate into more patrol capacity and incident response in the neighborhoods. For those interested in future processes, the announcement further confirms that the council continues to fill positions through regulated channels and with fixed possession deadlines, a pattern that should be monitored in the provincial BOP.
