Lugo opens grants for non-profit associations

The Lugo City Council, through the Area of Economic Dynamization and Institutional Relations, opens the 2026 grant call aimed at associations and non-profit entities that carry out their activity in the municipality. This is stated in the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 197, dated Saturday, August 29, 2026, with reference R. 2321 and identifier BDNS 926505.

The general regulatory bases, approved for the 2026 financial year, aim to partially co-finance projects and activities of interest for the economic promotion of the municipality. The call, processed under a competitive bidding regime, is endowed with a credit of 28,000 euros allocated to budget application 24100.48900 (RC 8461/26), and the maximum amount per entity may not exceed 2,000 euros.

Beneficiary entities and requirements

Associations, foundations, and other non-profit entities with headquarters and registered office in Lugo that have activities for the promotion of economic development, trade, business and employment training, hospitality, or job creation recognized in their statutory purposes may apply. Among the required conditions are:

  • To be legally constituted and domiciled in the Lugo City Council and registered in the Municipal Registry of Associations.
  • To be up to date with state, regional, local, and Social Security tax obligations.
  • Not to be subject to the causes of prohibition provided for in Law 9/2007 on Grants of Galicia and Law 38/2003 General Law on Grants.
  • To have duly justified the expenses of previously granted grants.
  • Not to receive any nominative municipal grant in the general budget of 2026.

Submission and deadline

Applications shall be submitted by electronic means through the electronic office www.lugo.gal or any electronic registry of the public administrations, in accordance with article 14.2 of Law 39/2015 (LPACAP). The submission period will be 15 business days, counted from the day following the official publication of the call in the BOP of Lugo.

The grant will cover up to 90% of the total cost of the action, with the remaining 10% financed by the entity itself. The procedure will be instructed in the Local Development Service and resolved by the Local Government Board, with delegated competence in the deputy mayoralties, with a maximum period of six months to resolve and notify.

Project evaluation

The grant will be awarded based on a maximum score of 14 points, with a minimum of 7 points required to be eligible for the subsidy. Criteria such as the number of associated members, years of experience and establishment in Lugo, the promotion of digitalization, innovation and sustainability, training activities with 50 or more beneficiaries, the promotion of local cultural and traditional values, and the active participation of users with an impact on the local environment will be evaluated.

The call, signed by the mayor M.ª Elena Candia López, is also published on the City Council’s website and in the Transparency and Good Governance Portal. Interested entities have two weeks to submit their applications and apply for aid that seeks to strengthen the associative fabric and the economic, commercial, and employment revitalization in the municipality of Lugo.
