Los Molares appoints its three deputy mayors following the resignation

Por FactBox Admin

Los Molares nombra a sus tres tenientes de alcalde tras la dimisión

The mayor of Los Molares, Jaime Ramón Rubio Curado, has appointed the three deputy mayors who will substitute for the Mayor in cases of vacancy, absence, or illness. The designation is formalized in Resolution No. 193/2026, dated October 5, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville No. 195, dated October 7, 2026 (official reference: BOP-SE-2026-195013). The appointment occurs after the mayor took office following the resignation of the previous mayor.

The three appointments and their order of substitution

The resolution designates the councilors in the order in which they will assume the substitution of the Mayor:

  • First Deputy Mayor: José Antonio García Antequera.
  • Second Deputy Mayor: Consolación Esparragoso González.
  • Third Deputy Mayor: Ana Mª Gil García.

The three will assume the substitution functions of the Mayor under the terms provided in Article 47 of the Regulations on Organization, Operation, and Legal Regime of Local Entities (ROF).

The origin: a resignation and an inauguration in July

The file recalls that in the extraordinary plenary session held on July 27, 2026, the election and inauguration of Jaime Ramón Rubio Curado as Mayor-President of the City Council of Los Molares took place, following the resignation of the previous mayor. The resolution emphasizes that the appointment of deputy mayors is an inherent and irreplaceable competence of the Mayor and that previous appointments were automatically extinguished upon the cessation of the mayor who made them.

The text is based on Articles 21.2 and 23.3 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, and Articles 46 and following of the ROF, approved by Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28.

Procedures, acceptance, and publicity

The resolution establishes a fixed procedure to finalize the appointment:

  • Formal notification to the designees, with the position being understood as tacitly accepted if no express resignation is presented to the Mayor within three business days from the notification.
  • Publication of the decree in the Official Gazette of the Province and on the Electronic Office of the City Council of Los Molares.
  • Reporting the agreement to the Plenary of the Corporation in the first session it holds.

A broader reorganization of the municipal government

The appointment is part of the reorganization of the governing team that the mayor has promoted during the same period. The same issue of the gazette includes the resolution on the delegation of functions by council areas of the corporation (official reference: BOP-SE-2026-195014), which revokes previous delegations and distributes seven management areas among the councilors, including Urban Planning, Works, and Infrastructure, which the mayor assumes himself.

The figure of the deputy mayoralty had already seen recent use in the municipality: through Resolution No. 164/2026, of August 14, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville No. 160, of August 19, 2026 (official reference: BOP-SE-2026-160007), all mayoral functions were delegated to the then Second Deputy Mayor, Consolación Esparragoso González, during the vacation period from August 17 to 25, 2026.

Why it matters

The appointment organizes the chain of substitution at the head of the Los Molares City Council and guarantees administrative continuity in a term marked by the handover of the Mayor’s office. Publication in the official gazette provides effectiveness and publicity to the agreement and allows residents to know who is exercising the Mayoralty in the absence of the holder.
