Digital tender to expand the GORE building in Punta Arenas

The Architecture Directorate of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, under the Undersecretariat of Public Works of the Ministry of Public Works, calls for a digital public tender for the “Enabling and Expansion of the GORE Magallanes Building in the former Prefecture, Punta Arenas,” in its second call. The notice is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile, No. 44,532, on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Section IV of Tenders, Competitions, Summons, and Loss of Documents, with the code CVE 2858409.
The process will be carried out entirely electronically through the platform www.mercadopublico.cl, without the sale of background documents or the delivery of physical bases. The contract is No. 437328 and the Mercado Público ID No. 829-2-O126, and it will be awarded under the Lump Sum modality, with a maximum available amount of $607,939,702 (taxes included) and an execution period of 585 calendar days.
Financing and scope of the work
The work will be financed by the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR) of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, placing it within the regional public investment destined for institutional infrastructure. The project contemplates the enabling and expansion of the Regional Government (GORE) building in the property of the former Prefecture of Punta Arenas, an intervention that seeks to expand the capacity of the regional headquarters.
Requirements for participants
Consultants registered in the MOP Registry who meet the required specialty and category may participate, without discrimination based on ethnicity or gender. The requirements are:
- First Superior Category in the MOP Registry.
- Specialty 6.1 Architectural Works and/or 6.4 National Monuments.
Process calendar
The tender schedule, in the Santiago de Chile time zone, is as follows:
- Deadline for inquiries: from 08.24.2026 to 09.07.2026.
- Deadline for responses: until 09.16.2026.
- Closing for receipt of technical and economic bids: 09.28.2026, at 14:59.
- Opening of technical bids: 09.28.2026, at 15:00.
- Opening of economic bids: 10.16.2026, at 15:00.
The notice appears signed by the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Public Works of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, and has been electronically signed in accordance with Law No. 19,799.
The call represents a relevant opportunity for architectural and heritage consulting firms in the southern zone, and a concrete step in the modernization of regional public infrastructure. As this is a second call, the Architecture Directorate seeks to ensure the award of a key work for the operation of the Regional Government in Punta Arenas.
