The Provincial Delegation of the National Statistics Institute (INE) in the Balearic Islands has published the complete list of sections, premises, and polling stations in the islands for the elections to the General Courts on November 29, 2026. The announcement, signed in Palma on October 9 by the delegate of the Electoral Census Office in the Balearic Islands, Josep Mateu Sbert, appears in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 129, of October 12, 2026, under announcement number 10220.
The publication is made in accordance with Article 24 of Organic Law 5/1985 on the General Electoral Regime, which requires the polling stations and premises to be made public before each electoral call. The document occupies pages 55130 to 55149 of the gazette and breaks down the information municipality by municipality, including the district, section, subsection, the range of first surnames assigned to each table, and the address of the electoral premises.
The general summary for the autonomous community is 1,275 polling stations, 377 premises, and 686 sections, distributed among the 67 municipalities of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. The summary table heads the document and is followed by the details of each polling station.
Palma concentrates nearly one third of the polling stations
The capital groups the majority of the archipelago’s electoral infrastructure, with a significant lead over the rest of the municipalities. The large population centers also concentrate the highest number of premises and sections.
- Palma: 436 polling stations, 79 premises, and 257 sections.
- Calvià: 58 polling stations, 18 premises, and 26 sections.
- Ibiza: 52 polling stations, 13 premises, and 30 sections.
- Manacor: 47 polling stations, 18 premises, and 24 sections.
- Marratxí: 44 polling stations, 15 premises, and 24 sections.
- Llucmajor and Santa Eulària des Riu: 42 polling stations each.
- Ciutadella de Menorca: 34 polling stations, 9 premises, and 18 sections.
- Inca and Maó: 32 polling stations each.
- Sant Antoni de Portmany and Sant Josep de sa Talaia: 31 polling stations each.
Small municipalities, with a single polling station
At the opposite end, about twenty municipalities with smaller populations are covered by a single polling station and a single electoral premise. In these cases, the subsection is “U”, which covers the entire electorate of the municipality without fragmentation by surname.
- Banyalbufar, Búger, Deià, Escorca, Estellencs, Fornalutx, and Ariany: 1 polling station, 1 premise, and 1 section.
- Costitx, Lloret de Vistalegre, Mancor de la Vall, Puigpunyent, Santa Eugènia, and Es Migjorn Gran: 2 polling stations, 1 premise, and 1 section.
- Sant Joan: 2 polling stations, 2 premises, and 2 sections.
- Llubí, Valldemossa, Lloseta, and Muro: between 3 and 8 polling stations.
Schools, community centers, and civic centers as electoral premises
The municipal detail assigns an electoral premise with its full address to each polling station. Most are public facilities under municipal or educational ownership, which the city councils must make available for the election day.
- Alaró: CEIP Pere Rosselló Oliver, Casal de Son Tugores and Alaró Theatre.
- Alaior: Casal Jove d’Alaior l’Hogar, Espai Rotger, Retirees’ Club, Town Hall Room, Mestre Durán Public School and Civic Center (Cala en Porter).
- Andratx: Municipal Music School, Es Vinyet Public School, IES Baltasar Porcel, Casal ses Bessetes and Senior Citizens Association s’Arracó and Sant Telmo.
- Son Servera: Es Pinarò Sports Center, Municipal Social Services Building, Na Penyal Public School and Cala Millor Civic Center.
- Es Castell: Municipal Preschool and Youth Center.
- Vilafranca de Bonany: Culture Center and Es Cremat Public School.
One polling station for each range of surnames
The electoral roll divides the voters of each section into subsections identified by letters, so that each polling station covers a range of first surnames. Thus, for example, station A of a section may group surnames from A to F, B from G to O, and C from P to Z, while stations with subsection “U” cover the entire alphabet.
This scheme allows the load of voters to be distributed among several stations within the same venue and avoids excessive queues at the largest schools. The document also includes the district and section of each station, so the information is directly usable for voters wishing to locate their polling point.
The publication arrives weeks before the electoral date and establishes the complete map of the voting day in the islands. For voters, it is the official reference to know where they will vote; for the town halls, it is the list of facilities that must be prepared and opened on November 29.
