Lendava calls regular council elections for 15 November 2026

The Mayor of the Municipality of Lendava, Janez Magyar, has called regular elections for the city community council and the local community councils across the municipality, to be held on Sunday 15 November 2026. The decision was published in the Uradni list Republike Slovenije, issue no. 1392/2026 of 2 September 2026, under official reference 2026-01-2052.

The call is issued on the basis of the first paragraph of Article 111 of the Local Elections Act (Uradni list RS, no. 94/07 – consolidated text, 45/08, 83/12, 68/17, 93/20 – decision of the Constitutional Court, 102/24 and 10/26) and the second paragraph of Article 59 of the Statute of the Municipality of Lendava (Uradni list RS, no. 32/17, 5/19, 37/19 and 56/25).

Electoral calendar

The day on which the elections are called, from which the deadlines for all electoral procedures begin to run, is Monday 7 September 2026. The vote itself will take place on Sunday 15 November 2026.

Conduct of the elections

The conduct of the elections is entrusted to the Municipal Electoral Commission of Lendava, which will be responsible for the organisation and supervision of the vote in the city community and in each local community.

The decision was signed in Lendava on 15 July 2026 and bears the file number 041-0003/2026. Under Article 5 of the decision, it enters into force on the day following its publication in the Uradni list RS.

Who is affected

The call concerns all voters and prospective candidates in the Municipality of Lendava, who will elect the members of the city community council and of the local community councils. The elections are held under the majority-vote rules that apply to municipal council elections, as provided for in the Local Elections Act.

For residents of Lendava, the November vote is the direct opportunity to shape the bodies that manage the city community and the local communities, deciding on local affairs, budgets and services at the neighbourhood level. Candidates and voters should follow the deadlines that begin on 7 September 2026 to ensure their participation.
