León announces four Firefighter Corporal positions via a merit-based competition

The León City Council has approved the rules and the call for the ordinary merit-based competition for the provision of four Corporal positions within the Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue Service, according to the resolution of September 4, 2026, issued by the Delegate Councilor for Internal Affairs, Human Resources, Mobility, and Sports. The call is published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 176, dated September 15, 2026, with official reference BOP-LE-2026-176006.

Purpose and characteristics of the positions

The four announced positions belong to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Fire Extinction Service Class, classified in Group C, Subgroup C1, and are assigned to the Citizen Protection Area. These are positions with a destination supplement level of 18 and a specific supplement of 53, provided through an ordinary competition and reserved for career civil servants.

The offered positions, with their identification codes in the List of Work Positions, are:

  • Corporal (code 30.0.02.0.0.1009, order 80488)
  • Corporal (code 30.0.02.0.0.1012, order 80491)
  • Corporal (code 30.0.02.0.0.1013, order 80492)
  • Corporal (code 30.0.02.0.0.1014, order 80493)

Requirements and application deadline

Career civil servants of the León City Council in the category of Firefighter, regardless of their administrative status, may participate, except for those with final suspensions for the duration of the suspension. A minimum of two years since taking possession of the last definitive destination is required, with the exceptions provided for in the rules.

The application period will be 15 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the Official State Gazette, which will serve as the reference for the calculation of the period. Applications may be submitted preferably electronically through the Electronic Office of the León City Council, or in person at the General Registry.

Merit scale and resolution

The assessment of merits will be carried out according to the scale established in the eleventh rule, with a minimum score of 1.75 points for the awarding of a position. Merits are distributed as follows:

  • Seniority: maximum 5 points (0.26 points per year in the same group).
  • Personal grade: maximum 1.75 points depending on the level relative to the requested position.
  • Assessment of work performed: up to 2.25 points per position level, plus 0.50 for permanence in the area and 1.00 for uninterrupted permanence.
  • Training and professional development courses: maximum 1.50 points.
  • Work-family balance: maximum 1.50 points.

The assessment will be carried out by a collegiate Assessment Commission of a technical nature, based at the León City Council (calle Ordoño II, 10). The deadline for the resolution of the competition will be eight months from the end of the application submission period, and the final resolution will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León and on the electronic municipal headquarters’ notice board.

Relevance of the call

This call allows for the permanent filling of positions that had been temporarily filled via service commissions, reinforcing the middle management staff of the fire extinguishing service of the Leonese capital.
