Álava tenders for waste collection in its provincial parks
Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Government Council of Álava has approved the procurement file, via open procedure, for the collection and transport service to treatment plants of the mixed waste and light packaging fractions in the parks of Garaio and Landa, the Mendixur ornithological park, and the areas of high visitor influx in the surroundings of the Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir and the Gorbeia Natural Park. The agreement, adopted in the ordinary session on September 8, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) number 106, dated September 16, 2026.
The tender, promoted by the Department of Economic Development and Sustainability, starts from a base tender budget of 296,729.99 euros, VAT included, and provides for an execution period of three years.
Scope of the service
The contract covers the management of two waste fractions in the provincial natural spaces:
- Mixed waste, collected in the parks of Garaio and Landa and in the areas of high visitor influx in the surroundings of the Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir and the Gorbeia Natural Park.
- Light packaging, the collection and transport of which will also be carried out to the corresponding treatment plants.
- The service includes the transport of the fractions to the designated treatment facilities.
Procurement framework
The file is processed through an open procedure, the ordinary route for public procurement that allows the submission of bids by any interested company. The approval of the file corresponds to the Provincial Government Council, which in the same session on September 8 also agreed on the correction of errors of Agreement 372/2026, dated June 11, and the resolution of two subsidy lines regarding housing.
Impact on natural spaces
The measure directly affects the environmental management of the main leisure and nature spaces in the territory, which concentrate a high influx of visitors, especially in the surroundings of the reservoirs and the natural park. The procurement guarantees the periodic removal of waste generated by users, contributing to the conservation of these sites and the correct management of recyclable fractions.
With a budget of nearly 300,000 euros and a validity of three years, the contract ensures the continuity of the cleaning and collection service in spaces that constitute one of the main tourist and recreational attractions of Álava.
