Las Palmas appoints 45 new local police officers as career civil servants

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has appointed as career civil servants the 45 candidates who passed the selection process for Local Police, by means of Resolution number 32118/2026, dated September 11, from the General Directorate of Human Resources. The announcement, with order number 3.041 and reference 1896485, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 112, dated September 18, 2026, starting on page 16198.

The positions correspond to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Group C, Subgroup C1, Local Police, and were vacant in the 2026 organic personnel staff. The process began on November 15, 2021, with the approval of the specific rules by Resolution 39318/2021 of the General Directorate of Public Administration, which provided for 56 positions and were reduced to 45 by Resolution 46030/2021, dated December 28.

The call for applications was approved on December 30, 2021 (Resolution 46238/2021) and published in the BOP number 157, dated December 31, 2021. Error corrections (Resolutions 2150/2022 and 2151/2022) appeared in the BOP number 15, dated February 4, 2022, and the extract of the rules in the Official State Gazette number 44/2022, dated February 21. The probationary appointment of the 45 candidates was agreed upon by Resolution 4795/2025, dated February 13, 2025, and the qualifying tribunal submitted the final and definitive proposal in the session of August 27, 2026.

Position assignment and remuneration cost

Those appointed are assigned to the vacant positions of the current Job Position List, all belonging to the City Council’s Local Police Corps. The authorized expenditure is broken down as follows:

• 538,904.98 euros in remuneration for 44 of the 45 positions, from September 15 to December 31, 2026.
• 12,247.85 euros in remuneration for position 1POL122 - post POL-F-117, for the same period.
• 144,469.72 euros in employer contributions for the 44 positions and 3,283.40 euros for position 1POL122, from September 15 to November 30, 2026, in favor of the General Treasury of the Social Security (CIF Q28027003).

The total amount in remuneration amounts to 551,152.83 euros. The file is processed as expenditure not subject to prior audit, in accordance with Execution Base 27 of the General Budget for 2026.

Assumption of office and appeals process

The assumption of office must take place within one month from the publication of the appointment in the BOP, with simultaneous effect for all candidates. Before taking office, the officers shall swear or promise to abide by the Spanish Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands.

Against this act, which is final in administrative proceedings, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month, and a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Las Palmas. The resolution bears the signature of the Director General of Human Resources, María Teresa Rodríguez Sánchez, and the Technical Secretary General, Domingo Arias Rodríguez.

With these 45 appointments, the City Council reinforces the Local Police staff of the Gran Canaria capital and closes a selection process that lasted nearly five years since the approval of the rules in 2021. The effective incorporation of the new officers and the cost assumed until the end of the year condition the deployment of the service in the coming months.
