Laredo opens 8,000 euros in grants for NGOs and associations for social purposes
Por FactBox Admin

The Laredo City Council has opened the competitive call for grants for NGOs and associations for the 2026 fiscal year, with a budget of 8,000 euros. The summary is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria on October 30, 2026, pages 55763 and 55764, with the official reference CVE-2026-8452 and identification number 937809 in the National Grants Database. The mayor, Miguel González González, signed the call on October 26, 2026.
The publication complies with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, which requires the publication of a summary of the guidelines and the submission of the full text to the National Grants Database. The full text can be consulted at the public link for call 937809 of the state grant advertising system.
Requirements to Apply
Associations or public or private non-profit institutions that meet these conditions may apply for the grants:
- Be registered in the Associations Registry of the Government of Cantabria or in the State Registry of Associations, with a permanent delegation in the autonomous community in the latter case.
- Carry out the subsidized activities within the municipality of Laredo.
- Incorporate a gender perspective in all phases of the project.
- Frame the action within one of the admitted areas.
The planned areas of action are childhood, adolescence and family; promotion of equality between men and women; people in a situation of dependency; elderly people; people with disabilities; drug addicts; ethnic minorities; other groups in a situation of exclusion or social isolation; development cooperation; prevention and awareness campaigns, and health promotion and protection activities in the locality, with special attention to those developed during the state of alarm.
Campaigns against gender-based violence and for youth
The guidelines detail two specific awareness lines linked to Axis 1 of Law 6/2018, of July 3, for the development of new or expanded competencies reserved for local entities in the State Pact against Gender-Based Violence. The first requires campaigns with positive, unified, and adapted messages, focused on the rejection of the abuser and on models of strong women, without resorting to the cliché of victims, choosing favorable moments such as summers for their dissemination. The second is aimed at a young audience and prioritizes the use of information and communication technologies.
Excluded are entities that do not meet the requirements, those unable to compete or involved in proceedings for the return of public subsidies, those with pending justification of aid from previous calls, those who are not up to date with their tax obligations to the Laredo City Council, and natural or legal persons with commercial purposes or forms.
Amount, bases, and deadline
The objective is the granting of aid regarding social intervention, development cooperation, social integration, promotion of well-being, and prevention of exclusion situations, as well as collaborating in the payment of expenses for associative entities with those purposes. The amount will be paid from Chapter IV, Current Transfers, and will be charged to budget item 2311-480, endowed with 8,000 euros in the current financial year.
The regulatory bases are the General Subsidy Ordinance of the Laredo City Council, published in the BOC on November 8, 2016. The full text is available on the municipal website www.laredo.es, on the notice board, and in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 184, of September 24, 2026. The deadline for submitting applications is five days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOC, such that the count begins on October 31.
An associative fabric with a very short margin
The call arrives with an especially tight schedule: five days to gather the documentation and prove the registry enrollment, the implementation in the municipality, and the gender perspective of each project. For the small entities in Laredo that work with the elderly, people with disabilities, or those at risk of exclusion, that margin conditions their ability to compete for a line of 8,000 euros which, although modest, covers current expenses for activities provided throughout the year in the municipality.
