The Island Council of Lanzarote has submitted to public information the regulatory bases of the «NEAE Student Grants», following their initial approval by the Plenary of the Corporation, held on 29 July 2026. The announcement, with registration number 1,695,179, appears published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas number 96, of Wednesday, 12 August 2026 (page 14492). Interested parties will have thirty business days to submit claims and suggestions.

The agreement is contained in file 9364/2026 and was adopted by the Plenary of the Island Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa on 29 July 2026. Given its regulatory nature, the procedure is governed by articles 49 and 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of 2 April, Regulating the Bases of Local Government. The announcement, dated in Arrecife on 3 August 2026, is signed by the delegate councillor Miguel Ángel Jiménez Cabrera, who acts by delegation of signature from the president of the Corporation, conferred by Decree number 4715, of 21 July 2023.

Thirty business days for submissions

The public information period is thirty business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas and on the Notice Board of the institution. During that period, interested parties may submit the claims and suggestions they deem appropriate.

The full text of the bases will be available to interested parties at the offices of the Education Area of the Island Council, located at Fred Olsen Avenue, s/n, Arrecife.

Towards final approval

Once the submission period has elapsed, if no claims or suggestions have been submitted, the bases shall be deemed finally approved by means of a new corporate agreement, as the announcement itself notes. If any submissions are made, they must be assessed by the Corporation before the final approval of the text.

Relevance for families

The news directly affects Lanzarote families with minors who require specific educational support, since these rules will regulate the system of aid, requirements, amounts, and the application procedure for the scholarships. Final approval will allow the Cabildo to announce the NEAE Student Scholarships and guarantee a stable and public framework for access to these grants in the coming academic years.
