Lanzarote amplía otros 111.000 euros para gastos de explotaciones agrícolas

The Insular Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has increased by 111,000 euros line 1 of the call for operating expenses in agricultural holdings for the 2026 annual period, which is now endowed with 975,000 euros. The agreement of the Insular Government Council, adopted on October 28, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 131, dated November 2, 2026, with the official reference 2.208.831 and the identifier BDNS 915139. The expansion does not open a new application period: it is intended to cover requests already registered.

The framework: 2024 bases and June call

The call is governed by the bases approved for the granting of subsidies under a competitive process aimed at the agricultural and livestock sectors of the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 118, dated September 27, 2024. The summary of the call for line 1 was published in number 76, dated June 26, 2026, and is the text that determines who can be a beneficiary.

The increase is charged to the budget application 410.48903, titled “Subv Operating expenses for agricultural and livestock holdings (Conv),” and the announcement is issued under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, which require the publication of the summary and its modifications in the National Subsidies Database.

From 864,000 to 975,000 euros in five weeks

Line 1 has accumulated two successive expansions in 2026 decided by the same body:

  • September 21, 2026: increase of 814,000 euros, up to a total of 864,000 euros (published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 114, dated September 23, 2026).
  • October 28, 2026: increase of 111,000 euros, up to a total of 975,000 euros (published in number 131, dated November 2, 2026).

In relative terms, the line’s endowment grows by 12.8% compared to the amount in effect since September. The sister call for the livestock sector, line 2, was also reinforced this autumn: the Insular Government Council agreed on September 7, 2026, to add 1,150,000 euros up to a total of 1,200,000 euros.

No new deadline and with the same beneficiaries

The document signed in Arrecife on October 28 by the president of the Insular Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort García, sets two clear limits to the expansion:

  • Beneficiaries: those indicated in the extract published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 76, dated June 26, 2026, without the inclusion of new applications.
  • Deadline: no new period for submitting requests is opened, because the second section of the call allows for an increase in the assigned amounts if they prove insufficient to address all applications submitted, without the need for a new call.

The procedure is therefore limited to increasing the available credit to be distributed among the files already in the call, without modifying the rules or the evaluation criteria.

Why it matters

The expansion responds to a mismatch between the initial forecast and the actual demand of the island’s agricultural sector: in less than two months, the credit for line 1 has multiplied by almost twenty compared to the amount prior to the first reinforcement, and the Cabildo has had to resort to the same mechanism twice to avoid leaving applications unattended. For the farmers who submitted their documentation on time, the effect is direct: there are 111,000 more euros in the common pool that will be distributed according to the 2024 rules, while those who did not apply in June will not be able to do so now.
