Lanzarote abre a información pública su plan de cooperación de 6,4 millones

The Insular Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has opened for public consultation the 2026 Insular Plan for Cooperation in Works and Services of Municipal Competence, endowed with 6,392,552.65 euros. The agreement was adopted by the Insular Government Council in a session held on October 20, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 128, dated October 26, 2026, in announcement 3,411 (reference 2,160,395), within section III, Local Administration.

The text, signed by the managing director Miguel Ángel Jiménez Cabrera by delegation of signature from the president of the corporation via Decree No. 2023-4715, dated July 21, 2023, details that the approved proposal corresponds to administrative file no. 4663/2026 and that its processing complies with article 14.2.d) of Law 3/2026, of June 16, on insular councils, and article 32.3 of Royal Legislative Decree 781/1986, of April 18, which approves the revised text of the legal provisions in force regarding the Local Regime.

The announcement does not break down the distribution of the 6.39 million among the different municipalities: the Plan and its annexes, where this distribution is listed, can be consulted in full on the Council’s Transparency Portal at the address https://transparencia.cabildodelanzarote.com/plan-cooperacion-obras.

Ten business days to examine the Plan and file objections

The public consultation period is ten business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, that is, from October 27, 2026.

  • Consultation of the file: the Plan and its annexes will be available on the Transparency Portal of the Insular Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
  • Submission of objections: through the corporation’s electronic registry or by any of the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
  • Admitted content: objections and observations that interested parties deem appropriate regarding the content of the Plan.

Simultaneous hearing for the island’s seven city councils

Parallel to the public consultation, and during the same period, the Council will grant a hearing to the seven city councils of Lanzarote, which may comment on the proposal before the processing is closed:

  • Arrecife City Council
  • Haría City Council
  • San Bartolomé City Council
  • Teguise City Council
  • Tías City Council
  • Tinajo City Council
  • Yaiza City Council

Final approval remains in the hands of the Plenary

Once the hearing and public information procedures have concluded, and the allegations and observations that may be presented have been examined, the file will continue its processing for submission to the Plenary of the Insular Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the competent body for the final approval of the Plan.

The announcement is made public “for general knowledge” and is dated in Arrecife on October 21, 2026, five days before its publication in the provincial bulletin.

The Insular Plan for Cooperation in Works and Services of Municipal Competence is the instrument through which the Council channels funding each year to the island’s city councils to execute works and provide services of municipal competence. With 6,392,552.65 euros at stake, the period now open is the only formal window for the councils and interested parties to correct, refine, or challenge the distribution before the Plenary fixes it definitively; therefore, the calendar of the next ten business days is decisive for the 2026 municipal investment map in Lanzarote.
