Lanteira opens a pig farm by Agrícola Beas Benavides for public information
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Lanteira has admitted for processing urban planning file 108/2026, through which authorization is requested for an extraordinary action of public interest on rural land intended for a pig fattening operation at the request of the company Agrícola Beas Benavides S.L. The decision is contained in the Mayoral Resolution 2026-0220, dated October 13, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada number 206, corresponding to Friday, October 23, 2026, with the official reference BOP-GRA-2026-206011.
The announcement opens a one-month period for interested parties to appear and present allegations, suggestions, or claims. The text appears in the Local Administration section of the gazette, on page 25, under the heading “Admission for processing of extraordinary action for the expansion of a pig operation.”
One month of hearing and public information
The municipal resolution convenes, for a period of one month, a “hearing process and, where applicable, public information,” so that those who may consider themselves interested in the file may appear and formulate whatever allegations, suggestions, or claims they deem appropriate.
The edict further specifies two practical matters for those affected:
- The documentation will be available to interested parties on the electronic headquarters of the City Council of Lanteira.
- The announcement itself will serve as notification in the event that personal notification of the granting of the hearing process cannot be carried out.
The document is signed by the mayor, Francisco Manuel Muñoz Ruiz, in Lanteira, on October 13, 2026, the same date as the resolution admitting the file for processing.
Installation or expansion: the discrepancy in the announcement
The body of the edict describes the object of the request as the “installation of a pig fattening operation,” while the heading of the announcement titles it as “expansion of pig operation.” The published text does not clarify this difference nor detail whether it is a new plant operation or the extension of an existing one.
The announcement also does not specify data that usually accompany this type of file, such as the capacity of stalls, the surface area of the plot, the polygon, or the cadastral reference of the affected lands. The available information is limited to the file number, the identity of the promoting company, the nature of the activity, and the open process.
The framework of extraordinary actions on rural land
The authorization is processed through the route of extraordinary actions of public interest on rural land, a procedure that requires submitting the file for public consultation before a resolution is made. In analogous procedures published in the same provincial bulletin during the preceding weeks, article 33 of Decree 550/2022, of November 29, which approves the General Regulation of Law 7/2021, of December 1, for the promotion of the sustainability of the territory of Andalusia (LISTA), as well as article 42 of that same law, are invoked.
In those other announcements, corresponding to different municipalities in the province, the intensive fattening pig projects are detailed with declared capacity and identified plots, details which, in the case of Lanteira, do not appear in the published text.
Why it matters
The opening of the process enables neighbors, environmental groups, irrigation communities, and agricultural organizations to appear and submit allegations within one month from the publication of the announcement. Since it involves a livestock facility on non-urban land, the file affects the planning of the municipal territory and those who reside or have interests in the surroundings of the operation, who have the municipal electronic office as a means of consulting file 108/2026.
