The UPV announces a vacancy for a laboratory and workshop technician

The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) has announced selective access tests, under the general free access system, to fill one position in the Scale of Diploma Laboratory and Workshop Technician. The call is published in the Official State Gazette number 216, dated September 2, 2026, by means of the Resolution of July 29, 2026 of the Rector, José Esteban Capilla Romá (official reference BOE-A-2026-18494).
The position corresponds to group A, subgroup A2, of the Special Administration sector, in the area of Systems Engineering and Automation. The process will be carried out through the competitive examination system (concurso-oposición) by free turn, and the call is part of the UPV public employment offer for 2024, approved by rectoral resolution on April 26, 2024, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana number 9848.
Requirements and applications
Applicants must meet the general requirements for access to public employment and hold the degree required in Annex I: degree or diploma, technical engineering or technical architecture. The deadline for submitting applications will be ten business days, from September 7 to 18, 2026, both inclusive, and shall be carried out exclusively electronically through the UPV Electronic Office (https://sede.upv.es).
- Admission fee: 25.48 euros, with exemptions for special large families, victims of violence against women, persons with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, and persons in a situation of social exclusion.
- Bonuses: 50% for general category large families and 10% for electronic submission.
- A Valencian language level of Grau Elemental or an equivalent certificate is required.
Phases of the selection process
The examination phase will consist of two mandatory and eliminatory exercises, scored from 0 to 60 points in total:
- First exercise: a multiple-choice questionnaire of 75 questions with four alternatives, plus 10 reserve questions, with a maximum duration of 95 minutes; it is passed with a minimum of 15 points.
- Second exercise: a 120-minute practical test using laboratory equipment, which includes tasks such as disk imaging and connecting a computer to the domain, configuring a PLC, repairing faults, or 3D printing of parts.
The merit phase (concurso), which is mandatory and non-eliminatory, will assess accredited merits according to the scale in Annex II. A temporary employment pool will be created with the individuals who pass at least the first exercise and are not appointed.
Development and publicity
The exercises will take place in the city of Valencia, and the first one will not be held until at least three months have passed since the publication of the call. The lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the results, will be published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana and on the website www.upv.es/empleopublico, which will serve as the reference for the calculation of deadlines.
The call is issued in exercise of the powers provided for in Article 50 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, and in Article 152.3 of Decree 122/2024, of September 24, of the Consell, which approves the Statutes of the UPV.
This call represents an opportunity for stable public university employment for graduates of group A2, in a technical area of growing demand such as systems and automation engineering. Publication in the Official State Gazette guarantees the dissemination and transparency of the process, which will culminate in the appointment of career civil servants.
