UPNA appoints seventeen professors in Nursing, Law, Economics, and Sociology

The Public University of Navarra (UPNA) has appointed seventeen new University Professors in areas such as Nursing, Law, Economics, Computer Science, and Sociology. The appointment is formalized through Resolution 2324/2026, dated September 16, by Rector Ramón Gonzalo García, published in the Official Gazette of Navarra number 201, dated October 9, 2026, on pages 35753 to 35755.

The resolution fulfills the proposals of the selection committees that judged the merit competition for internal promotion to university teaching body positions, convened by Resolution 949/2026, dated May 5, by the Vice-Rector of Faculty of the UPNA and published in the Official State Gazette on May 12. The Rector acts in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 32 of the Statutes of the Public University of Navarra, once the candidates have accredited the requirements demanded in the call.

The appointments correspond to positions numbered between 6476 and 6494 and are distributed among eight departments: Health Sciences, Law, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science and Mathematics, Business Management, Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Engineering, and Sociology and Social Work. Ten of the promoted individuals are women and seven are men.

Deadlines, effects and appeals

The appointment shall take full effect from the corresponding assumption of office, which must take place within a maximum period of twenty days counting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette. The resolution orders its publication in both the BOE and the Official Gazette of Navarra.

According to the provisions of article 38.4 of the Organic Law of the University System, the resolution exhausts the administrative route. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the rector within one month, or, directly, a contentious-administrative appeal before the corresponding section of the Court of First Instance of Pamplona within two months, both counting from the day following its publication.

Impact on the campus

The internal promotion of seventeen faculty members consolidates the teaching staff of the UPNA and reinforces areas with strong academic and research demand, such as Nursing, Computer Science, Engineering, and Sociology. The volume of positions filled, distributed across eight departments, represents one of the largest updates to the teaching leadership of the Public University of Navarre in the current academic year.
