The University of Zaragoza appoints three new associate professors

The Official Gazette of Aragon publishes this October 2, 2026, the Resolution of September 21, 2026, of the University of Zaragoza, by which personnel of the Body of University Associate Professors are appointed. The rectorate thus resolves three appointments linked to the access competitions announced last June. The resolution appears in section II, Authorities and Personnel, of issue number 192 of the gazette, with official reference BOA20261002006.

The appointments are adopted in accordance with the proposals formulated by the commissions tasked with judging the access competitions for positions in university teaching bodies, announced by the Resolution of June 16, 2026, of the University of Zaragoza, published in the Official State Gazette number 155, of June 26, 2026.

The rectorate acts in use of the powers conferred by article 50 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System; article 35 of Royal Decree 678/2023, of July 18, which regulates state accreditation for access to university teaching bodies and the regime of access competitions; and article 83 of the Statutes of the University of Zaragoza, approved by Decree 23/2025, of February 28, of the Government of Aragon. The resolution bears the signature of the rector, Rosa M.ª Bolea Bailo.

The three appointments

The annex of the resolution details the appointed personnel, with their area of knowledge and their assigned department:

• Jaime García Rayado, area of knowledge of Financial Economics and Accounting, department of Accounting and Finance.
• Sofía Jiménez Calvo, area of knowledge of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, department of Economic Analysis.
• Jorge Velilla Gambó, area of knowledge of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, department of Economic Analysis.

Two of the three appointments correspond to the area of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, assigned to the department of Economic Analysis, while the third is integrated into the field of Financial Economics and Accounting. The annex identifies each person by their first and last names and a partially hidden DNI.

Assumption of office and effects

The appointments will take full effect starting from the corresponding assumption of office by the interested parties. These must be carried out within a maximum period of twenty business days, counted from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette.

Appeals against the resolution

Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route as provided for in article 38.4 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, the following may be filed:

• Contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of Aragon, within a period of two months starting from the day following its publication in the Official State Gazette.
• Appeal for reversal before the same body, within a period of one month, in which case a contentious-administrative appeal may not be filed until an express resolution has been issued or a presumed dismissal has occurred.

The publication formalizes the access of three teachers to the status of civil servants of the Body of University Associate Professors and closes the selection process opened in June. For candidates of future competitions, the announcement confirms the resolution pace of the positions called by the University of Zaragoza and sets the deadlines for taking office and for challenging the decision, which mark the following administrative steps.
