La Universidad de Salamanca convoca siete plazas de profesor asociado sanitario

The Rectorate of the University of Salamanca has announced a public competitive process for the hiring of seven positions as Associate Professor of Health Sciences, a category of temporary contracted teaching and research staff reserved for professionals whose primary activity is carried out outside the university environment. The call is formalized through the Resolution of September 14, 2026, of the Rectorate of the University of Salamanca, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 181, dated September 17, 2026 (official reference BOCYL-D-17092026-181-13). The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the gazette.

Regulatory Framework and Issuing Body

The resolution is issued by virtue of the powers granted under Article 50 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, and in accordance with Article 86 thereof, in relation to Article 66 of Agreement 19/2003, of January 30, which approved the Statutes of the University of Salamanca. The process is further governed by Law 3/2003, of March 28, on Universities of Castilla y León; Decree 67/2013, of October 17, on the regime of contracted teaching and research staff in the public universities of the community; Royal Decree 1558/1986, of June 28, on agreements between universities and health institutions, and the specific collaboration agreement between the Regional Health Management of Castilla y León and the University of Salamanca dated October 4, 2021.

The call, identified as 2026/D/LD/MD/12, is signed by the Vice-Rector for Academic Planning and Faculty, María Rosario Arévalo Arévalo, by delegation of powers from the Rector (Resolution of June 5, 2024). The text occupies pages 51 to 76 of the gazette and includes three annexes detailing the positions, the selection committees, and the model for the responsible declaration of primary activity.

The annex of the call details the positions, all with a dedication of 3+3 hours and linked to a specific healthcare center:

  • Selection: a single eliminatory test consisting of a merit competition, with curriculum evaluation by a selection committee.
  • Resolution: the time elapsed between the publication of the call and the resolution of the competition may not exceed six months.

The performance of the positions is subject to Law 53/1984, of December 26, on Incompatibilities of Personnel in the Service of Public Administrations, and Decree 227/1997, of November 20, on incompatibilities of personnel of the Administration of Castilla y León.

The call opens a stable path for compatibility between healthcare and university teaching for professionals of the public health system of Salamanca, who may join the teaching staff without abandoning their healthcare activity. This model reinforces the practical training of the Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medicine, and Psychology degrees with practicing faculty, although the called positions do not correspond to permanent staff and their continuity will depend on future calls.
