The University of León appoints a permanent labor professor in Modern History

The Rectorate of the University of León has resolved the public competition called to fill positions for permanent contracted teaching and research staff under labor law and has agreed to the formalization of the corresponding contract. The decision is recorded in the Resolution of September 4, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 176, of September 10, 2026, with official reference BOCYL-D-10092026-176-1.

The awarded position corresponds to code DL005075, in the category of Permanent Labor Professor, within the knowledge area of “Modern History” and the Department of History. The selected person is Ana María Sixto Barcia, with DNI *2423, as stated in Annex I of the resolution.

Regulatory Framework and Procedure

The competition was called by Resolution of the Rectorate of the University of León of June 12, 2026, published in the B.O.C. y L. of June 17, 2026. The resolution is issued by virtue of the powers conferred in article 80.1 ñ of the Statutes of the University of León, approved by Agreement of the Junta de Castilla y León 243/2003, of October 23, and in accordance with base 15 of the call.

The proposal was formulated by the corresponding Selection Committee in charge of judging the position, and the proposed candidate submitted the documentation required in base 3 of the call. The applicable regime is completed by Decree 85/2002, of June 27, on the regime of contracted teaching and research staff in the Public Universities of Castilla y León.

Deadlines and Conditions for Formalization

The interested party must formalize the labor contract in writing within a maximum period of ten business days, counted from the day following the publication of the resolution in the gazette. If formalization does not occur within that period, except in cases of force majeure, the candidate will have forfeited their right to hold the position.

• Contract formalization period: 10 business days from publication.
• Until the contract is formalized and the person joins the position, there shall be no right to any economic remuneration (article 7 of Decree 85/2002).
• The resolution exhausts the administrative route.

Appeals

A contentious-administrative appeal may be filed against the resolution within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Court of León. Optionally, a request for reversal (recurso de reposición) may be filed before the Rectorate within one month; in that case, the contentious-administrative route cannot be pursued until it is expressly resolved or a presumed dismissal occurs.
