La Universidad de La Rioja convoca 55.500 euros en ayudas al estudio

The University of La Rioja has announced study and mobility grants for the 2026-2027 academic year, with a budget of 55,500 euros and co-funded by Banco Santander. The call is formalized through a resolution by the Vice-Rector for Students and Employability, María Ángeles Martínez Calvo, dated October 15, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of La Rioja no. 202, of October 20, 2026, under reference 202610160125050 (III.3967). The deadline for submitting applications ends non-extendably on October 28, 2026.

The summary is published under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and refers to the full text deposited in the National Subsidies Database under number BDNS 935516. The agreement is part of the collaboration line between the Riojan public university and the financial entity, which has already organized other scholarship calls for students and research personnel throughout 2026.

The stated objective is to support students of the University of La Rioja during their academic life, facilitating both access to and continuity in university studies, as well as participation in mobility programs not funded through other means.

Four programs and a distribution by amounts

The global amount is distributed among four lines of aid, each with an initial allocation:

  • Program 1. Tuition grants for Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students from non-EU and non-resident countries, intended to offset academic fees: 21,000 euros.
  • Program 2. Grants for the acquisition of laptops or access to connectivity via mobile telephony, for Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students: 28,000 euros.
  • Program 3. Grants to promote the mobility of Doctoral students who cannot opt for the grants provided to UR teaching and research staff for the same purpose: 2,500 euros.
  • Program 4. Grants for the training and accreditation of foreign languages through the Casa de las Lenguas, aimed at Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students: 4,000 euros.

Requirements and beneficiaries

Students enrolled at the University of La Rioja during the 2026-2027 academic year who, as of the closing date, meet the requirements set out in the regulatory bases and in the call itself may apply for the grants. General requirements refer to the bases and Article 3 of the call, while each program also incorporates specific conditions.

The resolution does not detail the number of beneficiaries per line, but only the initial economic allocation for each; therefore, the final distribution will depend on the award criteria established for each program.

Two mandatory forms and a one-week deadline

Applications must be submitted by completing two forms: the first, on the University of La Rioja website (https://aps.unirioja.es/becasUR/) and, the second, via www.becas-santander.com. Registration on both platforms is essential, and any required documentation must be attached to the university’s platform.

The application period opens the day after the summary is published in the Official Gazette of La Rioja and concludes on October 28, 2026, with no possibility of extension, leaving interested parties barely one week to complete both procedures.

Impact on students

The call for applications arrives after the academic year has already begun and covers four areas that directly affect students’ finances and academic trajectories: tuition fees for international students, computer equipment and connectivity, doctoral student mobility, and language accreditation. With 55,500 euros and a very tight schedule, the resolution forces potential applicants to gather the documentation and register their request on both platforms before the deadline.
