La Universidad de La Laguna nombra dos nuevos catedráticos por concurso

The Rectorate of the University of La Laguna has appointed, by means of a competitive process, two new professors: Ramón Jesús Salas Lamamie de Clairac, in the knowledge area of Painting, and Ana María Santoveña Estévez, in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology. The decision is formalized through the Resolution of September 22, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 198, of October 2, 2026, within section II on Authorities and Personnel. The appointments shall take full effect upon the assumption of office by the interested parties.

The resolution is issued in accordance with the proposal formulated by the commissions appointed to resolve the competitive processes for filling positions within the university teaching bodies, convened by the Resolution of May 26, 2026 (BOE of June 1, 2026) and the Resolution of July 1, 2026 (BOE of July 8, 2026). The proposed candidates demonstrated the requirements established in Article 24 of the Regulations for the development of competitive processes for access to the university teaching bodies of the University of La Laguna, approved by the Resolution of December 23, 2024, and modified by the Resolution of July 29, 2026 (BOC of August 11, 2026).

The Rectorate acts in compliance with Article 50.1 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, Article 35 of Royal Decree 678/2023, of July 18, and Article 84 of the University Statutes.

The two appointments

  • Ramón Jesús Salas Lamamie de Clairac: University Professor in the knowledge area of “Painting,” assigned to the Department of Fine Arts.
  • Ana María Santoveña Estévez: University Professor in the knowledge area of “Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology,” assigned to the Department of Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Technology.

Deadlines and effects

The appointments shall take full effect from the assumption of office by the interested parties, which must take place within a maximum period of twenty days starting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado).

Regulatory framework and appeal process

Against the resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, an optional appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición) may be filed with the Rector within one month, or alternatively, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed directly within two months, in accordance with current legislation. The resolution was signed in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on September 22, 2026, by the Rector, Francisco Javier García Rodríguez.

With these two appointments, the University of La Laguna strengthens two very different areas of knowledge—fine arts and pharmaceutical sciences—and consolidates its faculty of professors through the merit-based competition system. The publication in the official bulletin begins the countdown for the deadlines for taking office and for filing appeals, thus marking the effective calendar for the incorporation of both teachers and the moment from which their new academic appointments take full effect.
