The University of Huelva announces the awards for research excellence

The University of Huelva has announced the 6th Edition of the «José Luis García Palacios» Research Excellence Awards of the Caja Rural del Sur Chair of Family Business, through a resolution dated July 28, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) number 175, dated September 9, 2026. The call, which recognizes the best research trajectory of Teaching and Research Staff (PDI), is processed under a competitive bidding regime.
The extract is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database (call 922601). The initiative originates from the Vice-Rectorate for Transfer and Territorial Development and the chair itself.
Two areas of knowledge and two awards
The call provides for the granting of two individual awards, one for each major area of knowledge, with a financial endowment of 3,500 euros each:
- Research Excellence Award in Science and Technology, endowed with €3,500.
- Research Excellence Award in Social Sciences and Humanities, endowed with €3,500.
The awards are individual in nature and cannot be shared by more than one person. The total planned funding amounts to 7,000 euros for the 2026 fiscal year, charged to expenditure center 80017005, program 541A, and economic classification 483.00.
Participation requirements
Members of the PDI of the University of Huelva who meet the following requirements may apply:
- Hold Spanish nationality, nationality of a European Union member country, or be a foreign national residing in Spain.
- Be permanently linked to the university at the time the candidacy is proposed.
- Have at least four recognized six-year research periods (sexenios), with the last one still active.
- Comply with the deadlines and other provisions of the call.
Rules and application deadline
The regulatory bases are established in the Resolution of May 7, 2026, of the University of Huelva, which regulates the Awards and Contests convened by External Chairs (BOJA no. 105, of June 3, 2026). The deadline for submitting applications will be fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the BOJA.
The resolution is signed by the rector of the university, José Rodríguez Quintero, and represents a new boost to the recognition of research work in the province of Huelva, in a context where knowledge transfer and collaboration with the family business fabric are consolidated as strategic axes of the academic institution.
