The University of Extremadura announces a call for the discretionary appointment of the Director of its Library

The University of Extremadura (UEx) has opened a public call to fill, through the system of free appointment, the position of Director of the Library and Documentation Service, according to the Resolution of August 28, 2026, of the Management, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) number 175, dated September 10, 2026, with reference 2026062263. The position is vacant within the organization and may be requested by career civil servants of the university itself and from other public administrations.

The call is issued under the protection of Article 80 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, Article 121 of Law 13/2015, on the Public Service of Extremadura, Article 16 of Decree 43/1996, and Article 37 of the III Regulatory Agreement on the working conditions of the Administration and Services civil service personnel of the UEx. The Management acts by delegation of powers from the Rector, in accordance with Article 100 of the Statutes of the University of Extremadura, approved by Decree 65/2003.

The advertised position

The destination corresponds to RPT Code PFR0037 and has the following characteristics:

• Title: Director of the Library and Documentation Service.
• Level: 28; Subgroup: A1.
• General specific supplement: EG02.
• Location: Badajoz/Cáceres; working day: split shift.
• Administration: AG02 (civil service personnel of the Scale of Archive and Library Specialists of the UEx and analogous bodies and scales of other administrations).

The participation of both internal staff and staff from other universities or administrations is subject to the provisions of the Organic Law of the University System and the III Regulatory Agreement.

How to submit the application

Interested parties shall address their application, according to the model in Annex II, to the Magnificent Rector of the University of Extremadura, accompanied by a curriculum vitae including academic degrees, positions held, and other merits. Applications may be submitted:

• At any office of the ORVE Network or via the SARA network Electronic Registry (https://reg.redsara.es), addressed to the Personnel Management Section of Administration and Services (DIR3: U00200122).
• At the General Registry of the UEx (avenida de Elvas, s/n, 06006 Badajoz) and at the Cáceres Campus Office (Multiple Services Building).
• In the manner provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, on Common Administrative Procedure.

The submission period is twenty calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the DOE.

Resolution of the process

To assess the professional suitability of the applicants, the university may conduct interviews with all candidates. The call will be resolved by a resolution of the UEx Rectorate within a period not exceeding two months from the day following the end of the application period, and the position may be declared vacant. The resolution is signed by the Manager, Juan Francisco Panduro López, in Badajoz on August 28, 2026.

The call reinforces the UEx’s commitment to a transparent and open provision of its management positions, allowing professionals from other administrations to apply for the direction of one of the key services for teaching and research at the Extremaduran university.
